Weight program

We were getting pushed around bad, especially in the running game a couple of years ago, we needed to get stronger. Bigger (as long as it's muscle) doesn't mean slower. We were fast on offense, why not defense? It's probably more scheme than anything. The conditioning is a good thing, I can't wait to meet the new strength coach.

Butch and Lawson have been doing it this way for six years and two programs...I don't believe a loss of individual strength is in the works...everything is geared towards explosion. They've never wavered in this approach and just watch Derek Wolfe of the Broncos for an end product model...I could live with that

It's 405. The kind of weights we have now make it almost look like more plates. They are rubber or plastic or something on the outside and have the handholds on the outside rim. They're awesome. He may be struggling because it's his 10th rep who knows. Still an awesome pic.

3.) Players have never been through a harder workout. All are reporting that they have "never been this sore."

I was and still am a HUGE fan of Ron and consider him one of the best S&C coaches in the country but Dooley really hampered him. I love how this staff is all on the same page and moving in the right direction. You will NOT see hands on the hips in the first half this year.

I don't care if our players look like Lou Ferigno or not, as long as they play like the Hulk.

I know what you actually mean but can't resist, being a Hulk fanboy. Lou's Hulk is a wimp. Marvel's Hulk is the real Jade Jaws. But seriously, I think Butch will have this team scaring the heck out of people even when they do lose games.

8 plates total is 405 with the bar being 45 lbs. He has 8 plates on each side for a total of 765 .

Those are thick plates and the line down the middle makes it look like two separate plates but there are just 4 plates on each side.

Dooley wanted the players bigger and that's what Ron gave him.

@thedudewhosaidheshouldntbestrugglingwith405, do 5x10 or even 3x10 squats at 405 and then say something. Its brutal. There is not a player on the roster that wouldn't have difficulty doing it.

Tis true. No actual human being can do the hulk justice. He has muscles where there aren't suppose to be any. Lou was the only example I could come up with quickly. Point is still the same though.
