Welcome Assistants!! (OFFICIALLY)

Just the buyin to CKC from SEC coaches is huge IMO.
Hopefully they're buying into HER. But, jumping to a new place at least ensures 3 or 4 years of stability for an assistant, before an HC gets canned and you have to scramble to another position.

Thats absurd.
There are some so obsessed w people's skin color and history that they see it constantly in every situation. It's a diabolical curse and a really sad way to live IMO. Kind of like a racial, religious, class, or ethnic paranoia. Freedom is when you can just care or respect people as people and see characteristics about them, but judge based on invisible character.

Not necessarily.

Sam left a D1 hc job to become an assistant, and her pay increased.
So she got a pay RAISE after a stint as a HC? Sounds like the gig raised her value. Once again FALLING UPWARD. It’s all about options. Sean Lewis, HC of Kent State got snapped up by Deion and discarded in the same season. Landed at a better job with San Diego State. Was that because he was a failed assistant at Boulder? Or because of his accomplishments at Kent State? Build your resume is the way.

This is a serious issue you raise. I'm an old white man and I can understand it, even though I routinely get annoyed when people make EVERYTHING about race. But, the issue your raise IS part of the dynamics in our society these days. The question isn't whether it should or should not be our reality. It IS our reality and Coach Caldwell would do well to address it.
That’s all I’m saying that it is a reality.it doesn’t have to keep us from getting commits

The assistant coaching hires are terrible and we should have even more reason to be worried after letting Kellie and the old staff go. This new staff does not phase any other staff in the SEC. I like Danny White, but this head coaching hire along with these assistant hires are scary to think about for the future of this program.

I love what you say, however, sadly the world is a messed up place and will continue to be until Jesus Christ returns.

Def gives me Missouri WBB vibes, I hope this hire proves me wrong but def agree no one is worried ab this coaching staff in the SEC.

Another point of view would be people who live in a certain skin color see it constantly bc racially based injustice still happens enough to justify what you call paranoia. I think most people want to live free of that, but not everyone has the priviledge. They have to work to figure out how to navigate it without having it take over their life, we don't.

Thanks for doing that. That was one of the weaker troll attempts around here,

Yes because Missouri has 3 assistants previously named associate head coaches. Entitled to your take, but it's a terrible one.

Reminder: Every coach in the country had to deal with Covid.
Every coach did have to deal with Covid. Coaches that had already established relationships with several classes of prospects had a much easier time navigating recruiting over zoom, rather than in person, than coaches that did not have those prior relationships.

One of the reasons that Kellie Harper hired the assistants that she did was because they had relationships, purportedly, with SEC-caliber players. She and Jon, coming from Missouri State, did not. She was hired in April 2019 and had one summer to build relationships with four classes worth of recruits before no one was allowed to go out for a year. It’s not an excuse, but, like I said, it’s one of the reasons that contributed to her tenure ending here.

CKC got her staff together quite quickly. There must have been some whirlwind negotiations over the week to pluck Tubner and Lazo from their current roles, where they seemed quite settled.

Realistically, she probably has not had much time to get really serious about the portal but things will obviously be picking up soon.
IMO she brought the Assistant coaches ....as a doctor would proclaim in the operating room " Stat " or as they would say on the battlefield "Coup-de Main " ......I admire the swiftness and the quality of these coaches and the quick action to bring them on board .

We know who this poster is lol. Over 100k+ views and thousand likes in a few hours of the new coaching staff proves you are in denial. This is one of the best year one coaching staffs in WBB which means it’s easily one of the best in the SEC.

Was this the Harper’s home? I might buy it, just for the court/workout room.
Considering it’s more than an hour from Knoxville, I’m going with no on that one.

Most likely because they couldn't or wouldn't offer what they were paying them at Tennessee. These assistants were paid between 200 and 300K. Not many schools can or will do that with a women's basketball program. I can almost positively say Joy took a big pay cut taking this new head coaching position.
Sam was making 267K per her last report.

Boyer 400K
Law 295K

As I said, nobody was knocking down the door to grab at a bargain. I don’t disagree on Joy which was why I said lateral to go up.

SOUNDS like an excuse. Maybe it’s the delivery. 🤔

What's impressive to me is she snagged Lazo even though Sam P gave him associate head coach status apparnetly to keep him. He came here anyway. Can't believe the $ is that much better. It's very encouraging to have both these experienced SEC guys eager to come here after apparently no head coaches were interested. CKC is like a start up business that needs investment and she just got it. Now go get player investment and we're on our way.
