It'll be interesting to see if there is any work ethic in the age of instant gratification.
Generally speaking, being rewarded has always been a big incentive to work harder. Iows, ain't nobody going to be giving kids money very long if they don't work hard and produce.

And if you don’t think this NIL stuff is gonna ruin college sports, then I don’t not what else to tell
You. You’ve seen how NIL affected the outcome of our USCjr game 2 years ago went when:rumored someone was mad because another was reeling in more money than others. And egos are gonna be a bigger problem
The more this money continues to increase.
NIL IS going to ruin college football BUT it's better to ruin football than trample the rights of these students. It's just that simple.

NIL never should've been something the NCAA or schools could limit. I like college sports but I love how my country works. It's no contest when you compare "what's good for college football vs what's good for the rights of the students."

I know, right? All 18yo freshmen at UT are rolling in new cars that are well north of $100k.

Jealous, much?

Show us your ride from when you were 18.
Unrelated but why not a cool car, at 16 I had a 70 442 in the 2000s, players should get old school big blocks not these soulless NWO cars with bloo-tooh

Anyone in their right mind knew players were getting paid, extra benefits from
Boosters and so forth. But you’re still debating something that’s irrelevant to. About time they are getting paid argument. They have been getting paid. So if we can now “see”
They are getting paid. Then why shouldn’t they pay for their education

There's that, but an AMG Mercedes probably the street cred of money or something.

Honestly, I'm happier that it's not a Hellcat or something ridiculous.

Because the school offers to pay it and the school offers these things because of competition.

You know..... the market makes the compensation go up or down. This is how America works. These players are worth the scholarship and NIL, whether you agree or not.

The market sets the compensation.

So is performing and generating millions to pay the salaries for those jobs
The NIL intent was for signing autographs and a % of sale of the players jersey. Not standing in front of $350,000 cars at at dealerships! This is out of control in less than 2 yrs. Some players are making more than the coaches!

Stop supporting it! I’m considering it after 53 yrs of being a UT fan. It’s college football not pro football!
The NCAA didn't do the job of creating a landscape for players to be paid for services. Instead they fault against it until the courts ruled it to be unconstitutional. You can't tell someone how much they are worth. Should it be a little different probably so but the rule makers failed.

I dont care what he gets in NIL and never said I did. You just put your 2 cents worth in and it wasn’t worth anything. And tell me not to watch the Vols again. What are you 7/8 years old?
But you do care. If he was getting nothing but a scholarship, do you think he would have come to UT? NIL is just the next evolution of the college game and it’s not going anywhere. Either get on board or exit to the left.

So for 100 yrs it was awesome. Now all the sudden we have to pay them to play! The greatest coach in history says it’s BS but your opinion is like a$$ because everyone has one!
If you've not noticed, the Supreme Court basically told the NCAA they were going to lose the NIL challenge.

It's an opinion, sure, but it's the opinion of SEVERAL lower courts and finally the Supreme Court.

We're a country of laws. The NCAA is in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Law, almost certainly, in several areas....... transfers, regulating NIL, not compensating players directly, etc. They're losing court cases and, unlike you apparently, they have respect for how the country works.

Performance has zero to do with it. Nico reeling in millions of dollars before he even puts on a college jersey. I’m saying the kids are already getting paid by receiving a scholarship and extra benefits the UNIVERSITY is providing. If the NIL thing is the way they want the money. Then They should pay for their education.
Absolutely not! That's like saying that Patrick Mahomes should pay the Chiefs to play because he gets State Farm Endorsement money.

Non starter.

Let’s also not pretend the universities don’t accept football players who could not even read at a middle school level let alone complete a college level English class. This whole argument “they’re paid with a scholarship” is bogus when you and I both know that big football schools take kids who could never be admitted to the school on an academic basis. They’re also pushed into majors like “sport management” that offer nothing beyond a grade that keeps players academically eligible. Hell, UT has an entire building where tutors do all the athletes homework for them.
