Well Boys, I Think We Have Found A Great Coach

He hasn't proven anything yet in recruiting. That will be the real test of whether or not he is even a good coach, much less great.

So far, I'm extremely underwhelmed with his recruiting.

Recruiting is the ultimate factor that will determine how far he goes as a coach. I don't know yet what to make of his recruiting skills. He's not even been here a year yet so let's give him time.

So far, his floor skills as a coach look very good.

I like coach Martin's style he has the team hustling on every play. We are not being out hustled but our talent is lacking

Great effort once again. Too bad GOlden picked this game to have an off night, (3 for 19) otherwise the Vols win this game going away. Jerrone Maymon is a BEAST! Best effort by a big man in a UT uniform I can remember. THis team is definitely capable of exceeding expectations.

If Cuonzo can develop Maymon, and some of the less highly rated players coming straight from high school, this quickly, then think what he do with a player like Stokes. If Stokes is to enroll somewhere at mid-season, I think he would be remiss not to consider Tennessee....

I was very critical of what I thought this team could accomplish this season. I even said we will be this years Auburn. Boy was I wrong. I always liked the Martin hire, just didn't think he had the "horses" to be able to compete this year. Boy was I wrong. CCM is a hell of coach (as i thought he would be),and I cannot believe what he is getting out of this team. Very excited about THIS years team! NCAA's might not be out of the question. Very proud of this team. If he can recruit well, the sky is the limit.

I am for sure eating crow over my "we will be last years Auburn", and boy it tastes GOOD!

Go get them CCM!

Cuonzo is getting the absolute best out of what he has here at UT. All I wanted to see our team do was to be competitve this year and they already have, nearly beating Memphis in 2OT and possibly upsetting Duke last night. Given the fact we lost our 2 best players this offseason in Harris and Hopson, Cuonzo has already proved to me he belongs in the SEC. Just wait until we get a few more talented recruits in here. Go Vols, Go Coach Cuonzo

Also what he has gotten out of Maymon, & Golden is nothing short of incredible.

He's doing a great job. I just hope these kids don't get satisfied that they hung in there with two top 10 teams and get complacent. Martin needs to remind them that yes, they played very well, but our goal is still to beat teams like Duke and Memphis, and they need to keep working hard toward that goal.

I like what I see, though. The new guys CCM brought in seem to be working out and this team is playing hard. If we can't be Final Four contenders, at least we'll be good to watch.

I think we're a top 15 team if only Harris stayed. Hopson's style doesn't mesh with the tough style Martin has implemented.

I love this team. They are just gritty. They will be fun to watch, and even more fun to root for.

Coach Zo was a warrior in his Purdue days and his team is mirroring his playing style. All we need now are are some Glen "Big Dog" Robinson types and we're set.

Agree COMPLETELY. Honest to goodness, I was a Pearl fan, but this team makes me PROUD in a way that I haven't felt since yr 1 with Pearl. This program is working hard to EARN our loyalty.

Never felt so good about two losses in all my years as a Vols fan. The teams needs to finish buying into Coach Zo and do what he says when he says it and in the way he says it (McRae). We need the back-up PG to grow up quickly and Trae needs to learn to feed the ball out on his drives. Is it just me or are the refs looking for Hall to breath on someone so they can call a foul? Despite that he looked much improved today.

Let's watch the season play out. All signs are pointing to yes, though.
I tend to agree. While the effort and "game" in the first four games has been outstanding, we are just just starting the long season. He has however, made me want to watch the games. Really good hustle so far.

Hopson would get his ass handed to him.

People under estimate the importance of being the right fit

Truth.

I'm not sure how much hall has improved. I think he needs to be more confident.

One thing Martin does have to do is ask Golden about his shot selection against these better teams... Maybe a little too confident after the first 2 games?

No disrespecting Bruce, I appreciate the level of excitement that he brought back to UT basketball. However, the last few years of the Pearl era were a disappointment to me, and I don't say that because of the trouble with the NCAA. The more I saw Pearl's teams play the more I realized a couple of things: 1) He couldn't coach a lick of defense, teams caught on to his "controlled chaos" 2) His offense was stagnant and boring. When they were forced to play half-court, they typically stunk it up. On the other hand, with what I've seen in this little amount of time, I see a whole different energy level towards defense and crashing the boards. Seeing Cuonzo being able to get the maximum out of his players so far shows that he's a great motivator and his players buy in to him (I think back to when he was coaching the USA team this summer and these remarks were shared by numerous players & coaches). We'll see how this eventually plays out as the season progresses, but it looks pretty good as of right now. With regards his recruiting, the jury is still out, but if he lands Jarnell Stokes, then watch out.....

I tend to agree with you but we have only played 4 games, a little to soon to blankedly endorse but his halftime adjustments made this a great game. He clearly will react to what he sees on the court unlike some coaches.
My god do you ever like any tn coach?
