Well Boys, I Think We Have Found A Great Coach

I think we're a top 15 team if only Harris stayed. Hopson's style doesn't mesh with the tough style Martin has implemented.

Perhaps playing under CCM for a year could have really helped Hopson mature and play more physical so he could be the draft pick he thought he was going to be.

I don't think Dwight Miller has gotten his due in here yet. He figures to get a plenty of minutes backing up Maymon over Woolridge if he can contribute like he did in the second half.

CCM recruits as of now are four year players. They will improve year by year.. Add in high rated players (one or two year players) to the core for a top 10 team.

Yeah I agree. He looked like he wanted to be in the mix and just needs some gametime to develop. I too was impressed with his play. And the African kid? He's fast and athletic so he could come along nicely as well...

Martin has my full support. I am pleasantly surprised with what he's done already. He has got a lot out of a group that did not look good at all on paper coming into the season. Like I said before, I'm just ecstatic we now have a coach that will actually coach-up players and make them better. Pearl did not do that.

Time will tell. Way to early to know at this point. I hope they turn out much better than they were rated coming out of high school. I was getting quite used to the talent that Pearl was able to bring in.
they have already proven better than they were rated or anyone outside of CCM himself thought it seems. The fact he got those guys in a scramble with little to no time and not much to offer but the promise of hard work.

If that is not proving he can recruit I don't know what is. Getting guys to sign when you are winning and have time to build relationships is one thing. What this guy is in the midst of doing is something else and me likey.

Here is one thing people are not noticing. The same thing happening on the football side is happening here. These kids are playing their hearts out. but we are depending on some really young guys and a lot of guys with not much SEC experience. As the season wears on they will get exposed and people need to realize it is something that is gonna happen because in this situation it is inevitable. If it does not happen then hats off to CCM because that means he is even better than I think he is.

To be clear I think given time CCM and CDD both have what it takes to be answer for this program long term in their respective sports. Book it.

It may be early in the season but no doubt in my mind Martin is a winner. I'm really shocked that he's gotten these guys to this point of development in such a short time. I mean, what more could you ask for after losing our top two guys

Cuonzo is getting the absolute best out of what he has here at UT. All I wanted to see our team do was to be competitve this year and they already have, nearly beating Memphis in 2OT and possibly upsetting Duke last night. Given the fact we lost our 2 best players this offseason in Harris and Hopson, Cuonzo has already proved to me he belongs in the SEC. Just wait until we get a few more talented recruits in here. Go Vols, Go Coach Cuonzo

I've been down this road so many times. I truly do hope that Martin will be the best coach to ever come to TN. Its just that usually you get what you pay for. I have my doubts that the administration at UT will ever really support the athletic programs. With the hire of Dooley it seems they no longer even support football, the big money maker program.

with the freshman playing pretty productive roles early in the season especially against big competition I feel strong about the UT future w/ these guys + whatever Zo can land in the coming years.

With Chievous red-shirting how does he fit in over next few years with majority of SG/SF returning and Richardson similar spot starting to come on to go along with a JuCo transfer in SG Edwards who will have 2 years of eligibility ahead of him as well?

You do realize we pay Counzo a base of 1.3 million, right.

Lets not start sucking each other off just yet. Season hasn't even started yet. Duke and Memphis might not have even brought their A game. Let's hold off until we get deeper in into the SEC schedule.

I liked what I saw so far though. Not to take away from Cuonzo.

I have been a UK fan all my life (I COME IN PEACE BTW) and even though I belong to two different UK forums I have NEVER posted on either (just don't wanna get involved in talking about our team). But I thought I would post here because I have been crazy impressed with how your bball team is doing. I know it's tough recovering from such a big change but it looks like you guys may have gotten by with minimal damage. I'm by no means fans of you guys but I never want to see a programs fanbase harmed for their coaches or players actions. Your new Coach seems to coach well and better yet he gets his players to play hard for him. Interested to see where you guys end up in a few years...hell I'm interested to see where you end up this year! Anyway good luck on the rest of the season. we'll see ya soon ; )

Thanks for the thoughtful and respectful post. I wish our own fans could realize everything you've said. Welcome to VN! Stay away from the football forum.

You mean thugs like Duke Crews and Ramar Smith or perennial underachievers like Hopson.
