Well we would have been a lock for playoffs

Why do you think it’s certain?

Tennessee was 5th USC only jumped up because Tennessee and LSU lost.

Tennessee would have moved to 4th USC would have remained behind Tennessee until after their Championship game.

OSU would have been 5th or 6th Probably 6th. They only dropped 3 because of the LSU loss, but if Tennessee hadn’t lost OSU doesn’t get that “free” spot.

We don’t know that as a fact. Teams jump other teams in these all the time

Question. Make plays without Hooker and get beaten, or Orange and win
Playoff and win. The game is played when it's played. Stuff happens
What's with all this loser talk and I rather go to the Orange Bowl than play in the playoffs...geezus

No doubt however Tennessee had been ahead of USC. There was nothing suggesting Tennessee was going to get bumped by anyone.

Teams usually jump other teams by other teams losing or if that team does something special……at the time USC’s SOS was around 80 and Tennessee’s was 4th.

USC “could” have easily jumped Tennessee after their championship game with a win……because they played an extra game vs a quality opponent, while Tennessee wasn’t playing……..if that’s what the committee wanted.

But USC did lose. You were right the first time. If Hooker was still healthy, we had beaten SC and everything else is exactly the same as it was when this thread was started, we'd be in the playoffs.

I’m not sure I understand this one.

What your saying is exactly what I said. I was merely explaining the situation to someone as to why I didn’t think Tennessee would have been jumped. The only time they “could” have been would have been last night.

Sorry, I was just confirming what you said. Lol. Some are having a hard time coming to terms with facts.

Lol no one gives a crap about the orange bowl anymore.
That is ignorant.

They are one of the six bowls which are a part of the College Football Playoff semifinal rotation, although they are not a part of this year's CFP semifinal games.

1) Peach Bowl
2) Cotton Bowl
3) Orange Bowl
4) Sugar Bowl
5) Rose Bowl
6) Fiesta Bowl

It’s 2022. Not 1992.

There’s a playoff. We’re in the age of players sitting if they’re not in the playoff. That’s what matters now.

There is zilch that the likes of Michigan, TCU, Ohio State have done this season that shows me they would be favored over Alabama in a matchup....

Does Bama deserve to be in playoff contention? No. Their resumê shows that. But are they one of the best 4 teams in the country? 100%....

One can be true without the other.... Part of CFP's mandate is balancing the 4 best teams with the 4 most deserving teams. Some teams hit both marks, for example, like Georgia and Michigan... Since USC's loss last night, the final 2 spots are closer to the most deserving teams... TCU is not one of the best teams in the country... Their schedule has been trash and they will not have beaten a team with less than 4 losses all season if they go 13-0.... They are nothing more than a 13-0 Cincy or 12-0 Notre Dame that makes the playoff. Likely no great wins, but no losses....

if TCU loses, along with USC's last night, the final 2 spots are going to come down a mix of most deserving / best remaining 2 teams.... Between TCU, USC, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Alabama, I know 2 teams in that bunch that would be favored on a neutral field well above the others and that is Ohio State and Alabama... That isn't saying they deserve to make the CFP, but that is clearly stating they are the best 2 of the group of 5 teams sitting there with recent losses and no conference titles... If we had Hooker still healthy, I would say Tennessee and Alabama would be favored over the rest.

TCU losing today basically tosses the 2 best teams for spots 3 and 4 and inserts 5 teams into the "most deserving" for 2 spots.
Bama has lost to every team inside the top 15 they have played. That isn’t what top four teams do.

So you're saying Bama wouldn't be a double digit favorite over TCU? And that TCU would give them a game? Lulz

The Orange Bowl is a part of the College Football Playoff Semifinal rotation.

There are six sites that rotate among those two semifinal games, with the CFP Championship Game selected separately. Now, maybe you meant to say "in years where they aren't included the College Football Playoff semifinal games," but that's not what you said.

On every available metric we are ahead of Alabama. So once again, it’s not a lock that we would have been in. It’s possible, but not certain

Us being behind Bama is 100% about Hooker’s injury.

True. This was an unusually bad year in the SEC West. Alabama lost to the only other team who finished with more than 8 victories. They lost twice with a mediocre schedule. They normally have a much better strength of schedule to lean on.
