This. I especially don't really get the people saying he was cut because of an attitude problem or discipline problem. He was cut because he was undrafted and not needed on the team. Hopefully another team that needs a LB picks him up. Weird how now that Jennings found success in San Fran don't really see a lot of people bring up his past - it's all positivity. Hopefully Banks can find the same success so the "thug life" clowns stfu about him too.He was an undrafted rookie free agent. I'm not sure why it's such a shock to Y'all He was cut...regardless of when it happened. It's amazing that as athletically gifted as He is, y'all won't let Him outrun His past.

Summary of the news reports (not close-captioned for gossipy old women, which we love to be on VolNation):
Banks was released in time to be picked up by another team before they all get too deep into their training camp. That way, he will not be behind in learning their defensive scheme, calls, etc.
Tampa Bay had too much depth at the middle linebacker position*, after seeing that their ML draft pick was going to work out (which implies that Banks might have been brought in as insurance).
* Or, Tampa Bay realized they needed more depth at another position, and ML was the position from which they could best afford to free up a roster spot.
All of what we know works in Banks favor--the timing, and the opportunity now to get picked up by a team who needs him, where he will also have a better chance of getting on the field and earning incentive bonus money.
Agreed. Just seems like the vibe was that he was a headcase his whole time here. Good luck to him.I doubt we will ever know exactly what happened with him at the end of last season, but it seems pretty apparent that he was at the center of some drama and it def bleed over on the field. I don’t really care whether he makes an NFL roster or not.
His talent has nothing to do with his personal decisions.I’m torn on this news. Hate to see a former vol get released and hope he finds a home because he’s a good athlete. But I also enjoy seeing a certain wannabe scout who said he was a first round talent being wrong

But go ahead a puff up your day on me being wrong at the expense of a Vol having uncertainty in his future.
Yeah, I'm sure you're very torn.
Go Vols right???![]()
You can't name one LBer that is excellent in coverage.
so the only valid point you have is the character stuff for which he's been documented as remedying.
He did get invited to a SR all-star game and the NFL Combine.
Undrafted?? That's hilarious!
Really......TB cut him early so that he may have a chance to make another roster. TB evaluated the LB'er situation and simply had no room for him.I believe they have several evaluation and acclimation mini camps before the actual training camp starts. It was either a culture fit, or they just felt the LB room was too full. Rush to judgement very early we do.
