so CBJ and the team have 'won the press-conference' after an embarrassing loss. They have several opportunities over the next 6 weeks to prove it's not talk. It's probably not realistic to expect wins at FL, UGA, Bama, and SC at this point but it would be nice to see the team play tough, with pride, and show improvement.

"We always kick the sh*t outta Vandy!" - Doolander after the OT win in 2011
"This (season) is an abboration." - Fulmer after our first of many 5-7 debacles, 2005
"You won't have Tennessee to kick around anymore." - Doolander, 2012

I've heard it all before. Try putting it on the field instead of the press conference. Then I'll listen.

"We're not going to play like this ever again," Vol Safety Brian Randolph

That was his comment after the game Saturday. You can't tell me the mentality of this team hasn't changed. Obviously there's a long way to go, but at least they're going in the right direction.

Go Vols!

Talk is cheap

Jones' 1st tough opponent is #2 Oregon and they don't look good so everyone is upset.

There is a difference in not looking good and getting drilled by 45.. If we would of lost by 21, wouldn't be as upset.. But when you lose by half a century, It's kind of hard to be positive.

Brick by brick but reality is year by year because it will take several years of top recruiting classes to get our team and depth back up to being a top 10 level team again.

Being patient is very hard but we have no other choices for several more years so I'll support our coaches and players and keep the faith.

VFL...GBO!!!

Despite the score I felt the team was playing hard throughout, and seemed to be less accepting of the blowout compared to how they have acted the past few years.

I felt that way too. I personally feel like the "pride" factor is going to make a difference this year.

Chances are that they will play like that again...but I like the sentiment. It is good to hear it from players.

I'm not a silver lining type, but I do think the team had a wake up in Oregon. They see now what they must do to become a good SEC team and take it to Florida for four quarters. They know that their SEC games start in Gainesville this weekend. The season is still very much in front of them, and I am still a believer that they can win tough games.

Go Volunteers! Beat Florida!!!

This is meaningless. Read as much into it as you want to make yourselves feel better about the direction this team is going in, but players say this after every bad loss, under every coach. In Dooley's first couple years, we would hear this every Saturday.

There's no telling at this point how Butch will get these kids to respond to tough losses. This quote doesn't give us any indication.

And Kiffin's, "we will never lose to Georgia again, ever."

Get it right, Ajeray. Kiffin said as long as he was the UT coach we'd never lose to Georgia again. His team had just whipped Bulldog azz. He left, we lost. I don't like (or hate) the guy, but if you're going to heckle him, get the facts right.
