We're Tennessee. Not Alabama. Not USC. Stop hiring these chumps.

God our fanbase is stupid. What top 25 schools are coached by alumni of that school? Gundy might be the only one I know. No one hires alumns to be their coach. They hire qualified coaches.

It amazes me people still think UT is still a top 25 destination. Even better are the ones that believe UT is a top 10 job.

Just glad Gruden will not be here to screw things up even more. Mediocre coach who is a celebrity more than a coach. Would be like having Kiffin all over again.. a lot of talk and no action.. then gone to take his dream job.

UT dodged a big bullet but not really.. Hart had no desire for Gruden cause he knows it would have been a terrible hire.

P.S. I accept the apologies of all all the grudentards who bashed me when I told you he sucked and he wasnt coming despite all your inside info.

Quit patting yourself on the back and stfu. You sound like and extraordinary douchebag.

dabo swinney? he chokes 2-3 games away every year. UT needs to go bigger than this lightweight.

I got it, lets hire that handicapped man down the street that has had a UT flag on his wheelchair since 98. He remembers what it's like to be a vol..... Why does no one ever want to hire a UT walk-on as a head coach?

Are you guys serious?
You want a bunch of former Vols as coaches?
What happens when they start losing - you gonna boo Peyton Manning and AW?
Ridiculous.

Just read some goofy internet article saying we were going after Dabo Swinney who was born in Birmingham and played for the Tide. They said that he would be interested in being our head coach but only 'cause he knows Saban is going to be coaching the Tide for 5 or so more years and then Kirby Smart is being groomed to take over there.

Screw that.

Did anybody out there even go to the University of Tennessee? Do we have any alumni who ever played at the University of Tennessee who might think coaching the VOLS would be his dream job?

Is there an Athletic Director out there who didn't go to Alabama?

As a born and raised resident of the great state of Tennessee I don't want any BAMMER LOVER running my State's football team. Any of 'em. I don't want some chump coming here using the University of my State as a stepping stone to get to his "dream job."

Lane Kiffin screwed us 'cause his "dream job" came open. Tired of that mess.

So if there's anybody out there listening to this one lone fan then my 2 cents is GET THOSE BAMMERS OUT OF MY STATE and don't hire anybody until he wants to be at the University of Tennessee and he wants to STAY THERE!

A-men brother.

I said it in another thread, but I was born and raised in the state, have an engineering degree from UT, and would love to never see UT lose another game. By the standards of some of the whiners around here, I should be a real candidate. I'll work for 250,000 a year.

I've already said this once, hire Tee Martin as HC and let him grab Al Wilson as his DC.

I don't think he would have any problems recruiting because he's still young enough to relate to a lot of the players. I know that he's @ USC but I still believe he is a VFL. I don't recall DD offering him any kind of position.

Keep Chaney as OC, Pittman Ol and Jay Graham as rb coach and that feels out most of the coaching needs.

AS Forrest Gump once said " That's all I got to say about that".

:peace:

Not to sound rude or dismissive, but how are Martin and Wilson qualified to coach at the collegiate level?

Just because they were great players doesn't necessarily mean they are suited or even qualified to coach.

Did Forrest not tell you that Al is not qualified to coach at UT , because of no degree , and that Tee is like a box of chocolates ?

I would love to see a coach hired that was a true Tennessee man but right now I think we have to get the best out there and get this program turned around.

Bingo. I'd personally like to see it go to one of my family members, but I'd also like to see us be successful, so that's out.

yeah we def need to only hire a TN guy....because Bama hiring Saban was a bad idea since he did not have history with the school

Tennessee will never be successful again until it's football program is returned to people who have grown up in/with the University. We should have made David Blackburn or Condredge Holloway the AD, that would have been a big step. It may or may not be bad if we don't hire a UT alumnus has the new HC, but it is important for whoever that coach is to comprise a staff of Volunteers. I.E. Graham, Martin, and whoever else.

You and I are singing from the same sheet of music. I find it hard to believe that during Doug Dickey's tenure as AD (UF grad), where his son played QB and during Pat Summit's glorious career, that UT as a university did not produce someone qualified to run our athletics department as AD. Why in %$ll we are employing a bunch of Bammers is beyond ridiculous, fire any Bama grad out of our athletic department today and get us people in there who bleed *&^%$##ing orange!!!Give me one of Pat's girls running things if we need to and let her hire our next FB coach, you can bet we'll be a winner on the fb field shortly thereafter, heck give me a guy that graduated from Maryville Auto Body and Fender Repair College, but NO FREAKIN BAMMERS, get 'em out of there!!

Yeah, let's hire a WR coach to be our HC just because he played at UT. Sounds like a great plan

Every school in the SEC and most of the other football schools would be laughing their azzes off if we did that.Hire someone totally unqualified just because they went to school here. Did Saban go to Alabama?
