We're Tennessee. Not Alabama. Not USC. Stop hiring these chumps.

Look, when it comes to fb HC's they come and go and our school should be ready for that. We're the Big Orange, but we need solid commitment from the athletic department and the people who work there have to be solidly committed career people who when cut orange flows out plain and simple. If we are not growing those sort of people in our athletic department shame on us, we need to start, but let Bammer people work there, we need UT people working on The Hill.

I've already said this once, hire Tee Martin as HC and let him grab Al Wilson as his DC.

I don't think he would have any problems recruiting because he's still young enough to relate to a lot of the players. I know that he's @ USC but I still believe he is a VFL. I don't recall DD offering him any kind of position.

Keep Chaney as OC, Pittman Ol and Jay Graham as rb coach and that feels out most of the coaching needs.

AS Forrest Gump once said " That's all I got to say about that".

Are you 12? You clearly know nothing about football.

I said it in another thread, but I was born and raised in the state, have an engineering degree from UT, and would love to never see UT lose another game. By the standards of some of the whiners around here, I should be a real candidate. I'll work for 250,000 a year.

You're hired. Can you start tomorrow?

I'll join as well. I was born at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Grew up in Lenoir City. Went to UT and obtained a bachelor's degree. BUT I now live in Florida so to some on here I'm a Gator fan.

There are some mental giants on this board.

Just read some goofy internet article saying we were going after Dabo Swinney who was born in Birmingham and played for the Tide. They said that he would be interested in being our head coach but only 'cause he knows Saban is going to be coaching the Tide for 5 or so more years and then Kirby Smart is being groomed to take over there.

Screw that.

Did anybody out there even go to the University of Tennessee? Do we have any alumni who ever played at the University of Tennessee who might think coaching the VOLS would be his dream job?

Is there an Athletic Director out there who didn't go to Alabama?

As a born and raised resident of the great state of Tennessee I don't want any BAMMER LOVER running my State's football team. Any of 'em. I don't want some chump coming here using the University of my State as a stepping stone to get to his "dream job."

Lane Kiffin screwed us 'cause his "dream job" came open. Tired of that mess.

So if there's anybody out there listening to this one lone fan then my 2 cents is GET THOSE BAMMERS OUT OF MY STATE and don't hire anybody until he wants to be at the University of Tennessee and he wants to STAY THERE!

the fans and AD just got rid of him...his name was PHIL FULMER....

Not really. The Fulmer coaching tree is pretty pathetic.

Why is it that you have to take every cheap shot that you can at Fulmer. He is a HOF coach. They are honoring him this week. He gave us our 1st NC in 31 years. Maybe he didn't do as well as you would have liked but, have some class and show some respect. was it not enough to say

"not really"

I just don't understand. Show some class.

God our fanbase is stupid. What top 25 schools are coached by alumni of that school? Gundy might be the only one I know. No one hires alumns to be their coach. They hire qualified coaches.

I prefer alumni but I didn't rule out non-Alumni. But I don't want someone at the school I root for who is only there because they can't get a job at the school they dream about.

You think we'd be able to keep Dave Hart if the Alabama athletic director's job opened up tomorrow? He'd be gone in minus 60 seconds. You think if we hired Dabo Swinney, and the Bama job suddenly came open, that he'd stay at Tennessee?

Here's a question for everyone. Something I did just consider as I was writing this. Do you think Alabama would hire Peyton Manning as their head coach if it was open and the Tennessee job was locked up so that Manning couldn't get in to Tennessee?

If Manning would be a great coach like he is a player (still up in the air because they don't have a large positive correlation), then yes they would. Can't say whether or not their fans would be as butthurt as you are about it, but if the AD felt it was the best hire, then the offer would be made.

I bleed Orange and White, but if I was a football coach and that job opened, I'd be stupid not to at least look at it if asked, unless I was already at my dream job.

muschamp was a linebacker at UGA and now he's coaching UF, which is UGA's biggest rival.

Nobody is gonna hire Peyton as a head coach. He isn't a coach. He's a QB.

Guess that Spurrier guy couldn't play ball very well or coach ... just sayin' ... Heisman and NCs? Peyton were he to put his mind to it could probably be the first astronaut on Mars or the most successful HC at UT ever. His mind the past few years has been focused on being the best QB he can be in the NFL and is headed to Canton.

The one thing that's aggravated me the most is how everyone was when Kiffen was hired. Everybody started saying how we were going to be the next USC because of Kiffen then he started that "when I was at USC....". Then when Dooley was hired everybody started talking how he was a Saban deciple and we were going to be Alabama.

If he had hired good assistants we might have some good coaches that started out here wanting to come back.

Notice how some coaches have their staff poached by other schools? Yea, that didn't really happen much with Fulmer.

OP asked a question and I provided an answer.

I didn't say it didn't happen at all. But the tone of all these "bring in All-Americans to coach" posts is that just because you could play automatically makes you able to teach. It doesn't. At all. Guys with less talent typically are better coaches because they study and study to gain an edge. That's why Cooter is going to be a very good coach, even though he never played in the NFL.

Work for 249,995 a year so the president doesn't lump you in with the new billionaire's tax bracket.
