Wes Moore Twitter Rumor

Rick Barnes was too old also. Worked in ourfahor though...
Far be it from me to interfere with your circular logic nor your insistence on being right all along.

But if it worked, since duh it obviously did, how was he "too old"?

So it would have been better to have not hired Barnes on the basis of a prejudice that turned out to be proven stupidly incorrect, as most prejudices do?

Alrighty then.

So how will Fulmer go a guy that we'll have to play around 1.5 million or a guy that you could get for 750000. I don't think age will play a part in it and when you compare the two coaches not that much difference Moore probably done more because he has never had the players at NC State that Louisville can get. That might say he can't recruit but he does have a five star recruited this year takes time after you take over a program that was close to rock bottom.

He is 61 people work to 70 and beyond so don't think we'll not hire a guy because he might only coach 9 years.

You pay the 1.5 million when the head coach making the 1.5 million is a better head coach than the one making 750,000. This is no time to be stingy.

Exactly, we might have the dumbest fan base in the country! Wes Moore has won pretty dang good at UTC and now NC State a place Jolly-Harper couldn't make it at and yet Wes Is sitting there still in the tourney even after he lost 3 starters to injury. Not sure how many other coaches have done as well as the "old geezer" has when losing that many starters. He would kick ask at UT in recruiting because it's UT, I mean Holly signed top class what 2-3 times and she sucked at coaching, they came here because of it being the Lady Vols. I would take him for 10 years and I bet UT would be back to the top of the SEC almost every year of those 10 and by that point the team wouldn't be losing over a million a year and it would be setup for the Next coach to take over and Geno and Muffett would be gone and retired also. Excitement comes with winning, I could care less if the hire brings jazz hands with it, if the coach ends up sucking by the end, I want a proven winner and Wes is that at every stop he has been at and spent many a time with Pat also, not only as a grad assistant but talking with her through the years and learning from her.
Stop using wisdom on here... I understand the age thing, I really do, but Tennessee isn't a 3 or 4 year rebuilding job. The right coach starts winning immediately. Eight years out of someone like him would be better than another experiment. He's a great recruiter too. Did everybody think he was going to bring in McDonald's AA's at Chattanooga. He dominated while there.

At NC State he has one McDonald's AA on the way. He won ACC coach of the year in 2017 which NC state had never won in their 43-year history. He's one of 4 finalists for the Naismith Coach of the year this year. He's one of the few coaches that to me can do more with less. He beat Holly Warlick in her coaching debut, he's beaten McGraw and Walz too.

I of course would have Walz as my top choice but if that's something Tennessee can't pull off I believe Wes should certainly get a look along with some of the others mentioned.

How do we know Walz is better Moore is 697 225 for .756 winning percentage. Walz 300 and 99 for .751 I am fine with either person but comparing them as coaches would be hard to decide who is better considering their coaching careers and players they have had available to coach.

NC State lost 3 starters during this season due to injury and they won 28 games and made it to the sweet 16. They also finished the regular season ranked in the top 10..........that's a heckuva job coaching by Wes Moore. We should find out soon if he's going to be the next coach of The Lady Vols.

I'm having a hard time believing Fulmer would rush this process like that this. From firing Warlick on Wednesday to hiring Wes Moore by Friday. That's not enough to field applications and go through interviews, especially if your looking at coaches in the tournament because all their focus should be on preparations for the game. Also there has not been any kind of Wes Moore being hired rumor from any UT people.

No, Walz is 330-99 for .769, all at a power 5 school. The vast majority of Moore's wins have come at mid-major Chattanooga and lower level colleges, which is a completely different animal. The more relevant numbers come from his time at NC State which is 139-56 (.713), still good but a bit more modest. In his six years there he has never finished higher than 3rd in the ACC and never past the Sweet 16. Walz has three Final Fours (four if he wins tomorrow) including two National Runner-up's to UConn. Walz has proven he can build up and maintain a national power, and has consistently recruited at a high level. Moore has not. Walz, in addition to being more accomplished, is also significantly younger.

It isn't hard to decide who is the better fit at Tennessee. It isn't even close...

No it is a lot closer than you suggest. What quality of player you can get at Chattanooga and NC State versus who you get at Louisville whereas if the roles were reversed what would the records be and what would the results of the seasons be. We can't know that but I think Moore would be winning at Louisville just as much as Walz has and Walz would be doing a similar job to Moore at Chattanooga and NC State. Of course that will never be known but to say one guy is so much superior to the other is certainly not something anyone could rationalize considering the different talent of player each coach had to work with. I'm not opposed to either coach and certainly not opposed to three or four other coaches that are being put in as candidates. I will be happy if Walz gets the job but I'm not gonna be one of those it is either him or no one type people. I can easily be happy if Moore, Ivey. or a couple others are the candidate selected.

To add a lot of Walz wins were in that UConn league where you don't have to be very good to win most of your conference games. He has one win against Geno and that happened this season. I admit he hasn't had the talent of Geno no one has until the last few seasons.

That's the point, Moore hasn't shown he can consistently recruit that quality of player like Walz has which is a huge factor in coming to Tennessee. NC State is the same caliber of program as Louisville, and arguably better with the history Kay Yow had there. Louisville is a much better program now because Walz built it that way...

I can be happy with either coach. The worry with Walz is that I have followed Tennessee long enough that they might not want to pay what he would need to come here. If he keeps winning Louisville is gonna push him up to 1.5 million and that is a number that Tennessee might not want to contend with. A UConn win he has 1.5 million maybe more from Louisville. I don't want to get my hopes up for him then it not happen. Right now he is denying he has even been contacted by Tennessee, but of course he'll keep doing that until Louisville season is over.

As I've said before, there's a reason Walz will cost you 1.5+ million and Moore will cost you Holly Warlick money. It's all about how serious Fulmer really is to making the program elite again...

Walz can say that HE has not been contacted by the Vols and he is telling the truth. Don't bet
granny's new teeth though that the Vols have not been in contact with his agent to see if there is any
mutual interest in him coming to Knoxville.

He may be right that he has not been contacted but I hear he contacted Phil first even before the firing. Until he states publicly that he is not interested he is. If he wins the Championship and they may then who knows? JMHO as always!

I heard the folks talking about the job on ESPN and Andy slick Landers saw this job is the greatest job in the country bar none. No one disagreed but Horse Head Lobo looked surprised. Very seldom do I agree with slick but I truly believe it is and will be again with the right hire. They all thought a P5 coach had to be hired and even slick said he would think SEC experience would be needed.
