Westworld (HBO)

I think that is possible. There was another host being created when Bernard killed girl in the old lab.

Ford ordered someone to be taken back to his separate lab. Who was that? Can't recall

I'm still wondering who programmed her to do all that stuff.

If anything has been proven over and over in the 10 episodes is that even when the hosts think they have free will, they don't. Something/someone is always pulling someone's strings.

I intentionally stayed away from online discussions during the season. I did that with the first True Detective and it made my viewing experience less enjoyable.

I just read Anothny Hopkins only signed on for one year so maybe he really did get kilt.

There is the matter of the purse she left on the train. If all this was programmed it's entirely possible her sequence was designed to get the purse (with the data) on the train.

It may have all been programmed but that doesn't mean it was Ford that did the programming. Someone programmed several attempts to get data out via hosts. No logical reason at this point to think that was Ford and several reasons to think it wasn't.

That's a good point, I had forgotten about the purse. The point of her leaving the purse may have just been story to show she doesn't have a weapon to defend herself.

I'm open to the idea of someone else besides Ford reprogramming her, but for now I still think that Ford using her escape as a way to trap the board in the park with killer hosts is a better story.

Finally got to watch it.

This show has had me confused on who to root for, which is a testament to his complexity and writing imo. Sorry BO91, you just don't like to think.

This show is more philosophical than violence and sex. It has the "well if it's this then... wait but what if it's not... but are we no one yet... everyone..." kinda mind ****. Can't wait for the next season where they introduce Random Synchronized Musical Numbers World.

Side question... what would be yall worst theme? it'd be the equivalent of the worst ride in theme parks.

Did anyone else love the part when Maeve told Felix that Bernard was a host and he paused and looked at himself then she was like "don't be ridiculous. You're human".

Jonathon Nolan said in an interview somewhere that leaving the train was actually Maeve's choice, not her programming. He said that that was the first choice she had made the entire time.

So what did William in Black do to Delores in the barn? At first it looked like he raped her but then it seemed to imply there was something that would give him a clue to the maze but it was never fully explained.

Perhaps the coolest thing about this show (and that's a long list) is the music. "Fake Plastic Trees," "Black Hole Sun," and NIN on a slightly detuned saloon piano? Are you kidding me???

It's very subtle but I enjoyed that as well.

Finished season 1 tonight...just...wow. High hopes for season 2! No spoilers here.

There's a not-so-subtle cover of the Stones "Painted Black" in the first episode, as well.
