Westworld (HBO)

Arnold tried to give them consciousness via memories and improvisation. Not clear to me if Dolores figured out the maze the first time before he died (which triggered him to try to shut the place down) or he just saw other signs.

Ford was against (and didn't believe it was possible) but if I understand correctly losing Arnold (the suffering) revealed to him the secret for the hosts - they need suffering to try to change their situation. He added the reveries to assist and much like the Jews wandering the desert had them go through repeated sufferings until they were ready for freedom (he was God afterall and he used the David painting to explain his reasoning that you are created by your mind - he changed from creator to mind freer).

Unanswered questions for me:

1. Ghost nation
2. What ultimately happened to Logan (minor detail)
3. Who reprogrammed Maeve
4. Who was trying to smuggle out data via the satellite
5. Does MiB buy it at the end or is he spared for more.

RE: Wyatt - I'm thinking he was just a memory put into the hosts that also linked them to the original slaughter of hosts by Dolores/Wyatt. Teddy participated in "both" but remembered it as Wyatt at first then as partner to Dolores.

Why would he give them consciousness then try to close down the park once he realized they are gaining consciousness?

3. Who reprogrammed Maeve

I'm confident that Ford reprogrammed her. His plan may have been to get the whole park on lockdown so the entire board of directors would be trapped inside when he activated the new narrative.

Someone on the inside was trying to get the IP out. Said person had some hosts implanted with the satellite uplink equipment.

Ford explicitly did not want the IP out - or at least that was his public stance. It was his leverage against Delos. Given the satellite uplink was connected to Delos it figures there was someone on the inside sympathetic to their cause

I don't consider the point about Logan to be minor. How does William get control of the company?

I agree with this. There is no actual Wyatt.

I'm really pumped about where this show can go. HBO has brilliant production top to bottom. By far the best programming investment, bar none.

Except when Bernard was looking at her in the finale, he told her that she was just programmed to try to escape. Then he was about to tell her what she would do once she got on the train, but Maeve cut him off before he could. Remembering that sequence, I think it was part of her reprogramming to get back off the train. Ford was never gonna let her leave, and her escape attempt wasn't related to the data smuggling.

Delores is Wyatt. That was made pretty clear.

There is the matter of the purse she left on the train. If all this was programmed it's entirely possible her sequence was designed to get the purse (with the data) on the train.

It may have all been programmed but that doesn't mean it was Ford that did the programming. Someone programmed several attempts to get data out via hosts. No logical reason at this point to think that was Ford and several reasons to think it wasn't.

Still a Wyatt narrative was created and programmed into many of the hosts.

As I understand it Wyatt as a physical host was never created and his persona was merged into Dolores (bicameral mind) to "free" her to execute Arnold's plan.

So Dolores is Wyatt but a Wyatt narrative is also in the programming of the hosts. IOW, the hosts "know" of a Wyatt that is some dude.

The final title episode was the "Bicameral Mind". So how many of these did we learn about in the final episode?

1. Ford/Arnold - Ford initially resisted Arnold's vision for the hosts but not only came to embrace it but did so by modifying Arnold's methodology. The awakening of the hosts was the product of 2 minds.

2. William/MiB - We learned how William's personality changed as the cruel part was unleashed by WW yet ultimately he retains his compassion in his desire for the hosts to have some semblance of free will.

3. Dolores/Wyatt - Dolores had a second personality uploaded (Wyatt).

Other examples?

Maeve could possibly qualify. She's aware that her memory of her daughter is part of her back story. However she obviously struggled with that inert feeling and that appeared to be the reason she got off the train.

I'm still wondering who programmed her to do all that stuff.

Same here. Her story line appeared to be intentionally separated from that of Ford/Delores et al.

What if Ford had Delores off his robo-doppelgänger and he's still in the park?

I think that is possible. There was another host being created when Bernard killed girl in the old lab.
