Weve sucked at home for a while

While making fun of CPF's weight is not my favorite passtime, I disagree with you to a point. There comes a time when you have to model discipline to create discipline. I understand that CPF's playing days have passed him by, but would it hurt him to get on a weight room treadmill with the players once a day? Some of us believe he has gotten extremely lazy running this football team see his weight as a manifestation of a persistent laissez faire attitude toward the program.

Chavis should get up and run, too.

Down here in Chattanooga, Rodney Allison runs 5 to 10 miles every day and is in great shape.

Everyone should do it, including me, but it takes some discipline, and many of us have discipline, but not enough to run. Who wants to run with a hangover?? Just kidding

I think the coaches should run and work out with the team atleast to the extent to get to know the players a little better.

You pretend to know so much "inside" info, yet you don't even know what's reported to the general public. In the spring it was widely reported that Phil had been getting up early and running with Coach Bruce Pearl. It's amazing to me how you Nega Vols pick and choose what you want to remember. You require Phil to do things, such as try to lose weight, and when he drops 40 lbs, he isn't disciplined enough and needs to quit being lazy.

Give me a break. Your point would make sense if he had recently gained 40 lbs.

I assure you that I do not pretend to know anything that I don't know. The only people that I have to impress everyday are my wife and my daughter (that is easier because she is only 7 months old). I do not require Phil to do anything but win, and you are right, he needs to quit being lazy.

I've seen photos of Phil after the orange and white game in the spring. He doesnt look much different to me.

If anyone is claiming to have any "inside info" that's probably you, since you claim to be the "true vol fan" on this board.

It looks to me like he lost some weight.

Fulmer's weight gets overplayed. I'll bet that half the people cracking jokes about is weight aren't in any better shape.

Guarantee me an SEC championship and I'll get up and run. Shin splints and all.

May be overplayed, but you can't miss the irony of asking the OL to shape up and slim down while the HC gets a little chubbier every year.

Umm, that's what happens with age. Not everyone is blessed with God like metabolism that gets stronger as you grow older. Could Fulmer lose more weight? Absolutely. Does it mean squat when it comes to coaching? Absolutely not.

How old is Fulmer anyway?

Old enough to get diabetes, heart diseases, bone problems, pretty much everything.

We'll all be that old one of these days.

Again, he has lost around 40 lbs since a year and a half ago.

The Nega Vols like Lexie and Okla are NEVER going to give him any credit, so it's pointless to even try.

Hell Lex can't even read my post and understand the difference between fact and sarcasam.

you are somewhat wrong on your first point. of course the game was huge in the 90's, but it was always so early, that there was too many games left in the season to say that it decided anything concerning the east champion. My point is that the 2001 game, was the last game of the season, there were no other issues as to who the east winner would be, win that day and you win the east. So in that regards it was the most meaningful game the 2 ever coached against each other. So if Spurrier owned him, you think he could have won the biggest game they ever coached against each other at his home field. No loss by either team in September ever cost them the east, it may have taken them out of the drivers seat, but it did not determine anything as the game in 2001 did. If you can't understand that fact, then I can't help you.
all i know is every year UF beat us except in 97, they won the East. We didn't. IN 98 we beat UF, we won the East. in 99 UF won, and they won the East...and so on and so on....And, as to costing us the East....it cost us plenty...w/exception of 94, our early loss to UF in 95 and 96 cost us chances at the SEC title.

while i won't argue that in 01 it was the only time that game actually decided the East, it wasn't the only time the winner of that game won the East...From the time the SEC split, the only two teams that represented the East until...when did UGA first go?....UF and TN played in the SEC CG. and generally speaking, the winner of that game was the one who played for it, regardless of when it was played.

i'm not taking anything away from the 01 game...i loved it, and i loved the fact that it was a winner take all situation. i loved that it was Spurrier's last conf. home game, that it was sr. day at the swamp and that we beat them.

ok, so we can agree to agree somewhat. Man that is hard to do on this board sometimes.

No irony at all. Fulmer's playing days are over. He has earned the right to be in whatever kind of shape he cares to be in. It basically concerns him, his wife, and his children. That is it.

I guess some would rather have Fulmer spending time working out instead of working on a gameplan or watching film.

UAB's ex D-coordinator (Wayne Bolt) is over 400 lb.s. His weight was an issue - he could barely move on the sidelines.

That said, focusing on Fulmer's weight as coaching issue is nuts!

:dunno:

there is something to be said though for personal image, but as a fellow big guy, though not to that extent, the size of the guy has nothing to do with his drive or capability to perform.

bottom line is people feel more confident in people that project a certain image....people of CPF's stature tend to give off a more "soft" feel than those perceived to be in better shape.

i call it the ability to "exude confidence". whether or not it is actually true or not, the percpetion is what it is.
