What’s the likelihood that we see civil unrest soon?

But all of that belies the point that vaccination should be a choice, not a mandate.
It's fine to hold that opinion, but that's all it is.... your opinion.

The Supreme Court has ruled on this issue. In Jacobson v Massachusetts from 1905, The United States Supreme Court upheld the authority of states to enforce compulsory vaccination laws. The Court's decision articulated the view that individual liberty is not absolute and is subject to the police power of the state.

The precedent of Jacobson v Massachusetts has been upheld many times.

"authority of states"

I don't believe Biden is a governor

Probably true, but then it would be the "blue" states resisting because "Trump". Tribalism works both ways. The two parties have moved past any desire to truly compromise and work together.

But all of that belies the point that vaccination should be a choice, not a mandate.
This entire thing is about red folks leaving the US. I mean, that is what OP was saying without saying it.

I didn't say that he was, nor did I allude to Biden's proposed mandates in that post you replied to. I was responding to @Weezer, who said that vaccinations should be a choice, not a mandate. Read that post again. You responded to something that wasn't said.

Ok but right now there's only one guy calling for mandates and he's not at the state level

They should be a choice. Bad precedent doesn't make it correct

Currently, there is one governor calling for vaccination mandates for state employees... that would be Governor Gavin Newsom of California. Former New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo of New York, was also in favor of mandates for state employees. His successor hasn't weighed in yet.

There's a reason people are fleeing those states

What Pj is trying to tell you is that the SCOTUS ruling you referenced gives the authority to mandate vaccines to the states, not the federal government.

What exactly do you mean by red folks? Are you trying to insinuate that I’m racist? Or are you insinuating that I want Republicans to leave the US? Either way you’re wrong

Worthless decision and even more worthless to the current mandate being discussed given it's at the federal level.

The federal gov does not have the authority to mandate vaccines on the general population.

I already said that myself in posts #351, #354 and #356 on this very page...

Can you read? Once again, you are responding to something which I didn't say.

You are responding to something which I didn't f***ing say!

I was responding specifically to Weezer.... not discussing Biden's proposed mandates, but the fact that some citizens (such as state government employees) can be legally compelled to take a vaccination. It's not always just a choice. I did not even mention Biden!

This marks the 3rd time I've said this same damn thing.

You mentioned Trump and alleging his followers would be pro vaccine mandate if he were president, which brings in the discussion of Biden AND HIS ACTUAL MANDATE. Weezer's point was that the tribalism is proof that the vaccine should be a choice.

The guy that does NOTHING but cry about Trump is now complaining about people bringing up Biden. That's rich.

Just in case you’re interested, Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, announced that any business that Forces vaccines will be subject to a $5000 fine for each occurrence. Dude is the man
Not really. This is still govt overreach. He's losing steam on covid

If this is a blanket order by DeSantis he just made a terrible mistake and will have his ass handed to him.

No, I did not! That was in a separate argument... unrelated to whether or not some citizens can be legally compelled to be vaccinated! Weezer said that it should be a choice, and my basic point was that people can be compelled by state governments to get the vaccine. What I said did not have a single damn thing to do with either Trump or Biden. They weren't even mentioned in posts 351, 354, 356, or 363!

Weezer's response to your mention of trump and then yours with the state of Mass case.

In regards to your "They weren't even mentioned in posts 351, 354, 356, or 363!"

351 is your state of Mass post, the others are after. Quit skewing the timeline of the discussion.

Look at my post #351 from above. I only quoted @Weezer on the portion of his post which said:

"But all of that belies the point that vaccination should be a choice, not a mandate."

I did not include any other part of that post you quoted. That is because, I wasn't talking about Trump... or Biden.

You fight the dumbest ****. Beginning to think you eat paste. It's really funny.

He was literally responding to you mentioning trump. Maybe you missed his point.
