What’s the likelihood that we see civil unrest soon?

If your answer is the employer I agree. The Feds have no damn business mandating a nation wide “living wage”.

You know good and and well that workers would be screwed over while the paper pushers get yachts that nest inside their bigger yachts. We've had armed labor revolts over this.

Not a deflection, but an observation.

There are many people in this forum who love to parrot the line about this being a Christian nation. Then you show them the multiple scriptural commandments that point to Christianity as a collectivist theology and they lose their minds.

There is nowhere in Scripture that advocates a government appointed collective

Nope. There is no damn way the Feds can determine a one-size-fits all minimum wage to live on for nation wide usage. And if an employer won’t pay for good employees then they won’t get good employees. That’s how the free market works.

And you’re tilting towards wealth envy again.

Just scanning indeed the lowest starting wage I found was $12 an hour. Plenty of jobs offering $14-$28 with sign on bonuses.

In east TN would $12 an hour be considering a living wage?

I can't give you a city by city rundown. In Moshiem, probably. In Johnson City, probably not.

Probably not for an adult single person. Would be ok for a high school kid looking for a little cash.

There's a reason the democrats want to disarm the populace and it has zero to do with mass shootings and gun crime.

Have you also noticed the Biden administration and democrat operatives like the media are always talking domestic terrorism?

It is a weird fixation about domestic terrorism unless you know all of your policies are destroying this country and there is a segment of the population that will have enough.

Especially when you consider they have now provided a mechanism for ISIS and other to re-emerge in Afghanistan and we've found out terrorists are coming thru the open border.

Never said that. I was referring to the false gods of hyperindividualism and isolationism.

Hyperindividualism is someone who thinks their earning value is more than it really is. Envy and lacks account for work and growth

That's a good point. Pushing the domestic terrorism angle, which we have virtually zero domestic terrorism, covers so many bases for them. They're trying to put fear into the public in order to advance their attack on the 2nd and paint the GOP as far right wing, militant extremist. They then can sell their trade of safety for rights. They're the real terrorist.

I thought you were a progressive? This is 1890’s thinking.

Companies compete for good workers and offer competitive pay and benefits packages. If in 2021 you are only commanding minimum wage for your work skills and ethic than you don’t deserve to make a living wage.

When I was a young adult single person I lived on far less without help from the government or my family.

At $12 an hour you can afford to live. You probably couldn’t afford a new car or house, but you can have an apartment and a used car. You probably can’t afford Starbucks every morning, but you can afford to brew your own coffee.

You & I were in the same boat trying to keep our heads above water. Spot on post.

Brilliant! So let's institute a living wage so we can be sure that the lowest earners earn enough to pay their fair share into the pot.

Good idea fool. Make sure that you burden small business owners with paying those 'livable wages', and 1 of three things are going to happen. 1) They go out of business. 2) They layoff workers because of technological advances in unskilled labor (research Amazon just walk out technology) or 3) Inflation of goods and services, sending you right back to square 1.

It will be interesting to see if those wages remain at those levels now that the government stopped paying people to stay home and there is an increasing labor pool.

While at the same time trying to abolish law enforcement and make it easier for criminals to get back on the streets.

People now days don't understand this. They've got to have their cell phones, high speed, internet, nice cars, drug money, and party money.

If you are a younger person then this is a good starting wage especially if you are unskilled. Many retail and even fast food are starting you near that rate.

My first salaried job was less than that in the 1990's with a degree.

With the recent mandates of vaccinations, I’m wondering how other people feel. I’m starting to feel like this may not end well. Everyone has a breaking point and I noticed that through the riots, BLM protests, Antifa BS and infringements that the conservatives stayed oddly quiet. But now they’re starting to get extremely pissed and very vocal. Is this a sign of things to come if things don’t change? I mean, let’s face it. There’s 3 more years of this clown and look at the damage he’s caused in just a few months. What’s your opinions? Is this going to come to us taking a physical stand? Or do you think it just blows over?

What? Were you out of the country last year?

My suggestion for people still staying home collecting unemployment is to get in were you fit in.

Wages may come back down as supply of labor goes up and the longer these people wait the greater chance they miss out on the inflated starting wages.
