Doug Dickey refused to extend Johnny Majors contract. So Johnny would have been on the way out,heart attack or not.

Not true. During the summer before that final season, Johnny was complaining about his salary and Dickey told him he was not interested in renegotiating Johnny's salary at that time.

Majors did irritate Dickey and several members of the Athletics Board during that summer but it's my understanding that he still had 5 years on his contract when he was terminated.

Majors has no one to blame but himself for what happened to him.
