What are the chances that Peterman and Ferguson transfer

I hate to see any if them leave, but my guess would be Peterman. Dobbs and Riley fight for starting job and Worley finishes UT career in the bench

It isnt merely that Dobbs has played one half of ball. It is that it was bUTch's decision to choose his red shirt to burn thereby placing him ahead of Ferguson.

Ferg had also been hurt all week and perhaps even Saturday. He could still progress and pass him. A few years ago Vol fans felt some guy named Brandon was better than Peyton. I think he had to choose Dobbs and not saying Dobbs will not start all four years either. It is just too early to make any decision that are final about who will be under center in the third game of 2014 season. You hope Ferg doesn't have to burn his RS as well because he is the only healthy backup and something happens to Dobbs.

One thing I agree with Danielson is they should get five years to play and forget redshirts and medical stuff ect. Most of the really good ones do leave early anyway. It would also allow guys who do transfer more time with their new teams.

Peterman:

Most likely gone unless he can perform miracles in the off season. Or sticks around because he believes in the program. An FCS team might pick him up, maybe. But I'd not be willing to bet either way. H just isn't playing CBJ's style of game.

Dobbs:

Dobbs' redshirt is burned. Easy enough that puts him at #2 or #1 depending on the game. Until the extent of Worley's injury is known, it's probably the #1 position.

Ferguson:

Was injured this week that was kept pretty quite by the UT Staff. But as we've seen throughout this year, quarterbacks can and will get injured and drop out of games. How many teams have lost a starter this year due to injuries? So chances of Ferguson staying and potentially getting that #2 or even #1 shot? Pretty good actually in the smash mouth schedule we have year in and year out. So my guess it he sticks around, at least for another year and plays the system, probably getting snaps as #2 next season.

On Worley.

He's seen the light so to speak. And as stated before, he'll become another Simms in my opinion. Sticks around to get his degree through his senior year and gets back up snaps from time to time. He's a veteran QB, no doubt about it, but probably won't see a lot of game time at this point.

Ferguson will likely be the starter next year, so I doubt he will transfer. Peterman will battle Worley for the third team spot.

Says who? There wasn't a substantial gap, even enough of one to list them as anything other than 2a and 2b. It seems like those who favored Ferguson still favor him without seeing him in action. We've seen Dobbs, and he looked fine. If he wasn't ahead on the depth chart, then he likely is now and it's on Fergy to unseat him.

How do you know that? If he plays any better than Dobbs did against Alabama he should've been starting since week one.

Worley was playing well in the last two games before yesterday and Ferguson was banged up last week during practice. Everyone else was injured, so Dobbs got the call and had a nice performance. Both Dobbs and Ferguson will play a lot next year.

Let these threads go. No need to speculate until the end of the season, we have 4 games left actually 5. Let's talk about it then. What is the problem. I guess we are so use to getting rejected and people leaving we worry about things we have ZERO control over. CBJ will make it work out he is a players coach and will put what best serves the team first.

Some of you act like Dooley is still coaching this team.

With the hand injuries to Peterson and Worley, it would be interesting to see if CBJ and staff decide to move another player to qb for depth purposes while they redshirt Ferguson.

Since we're not going to see Fergy this year, I am hoping Dobbs takes the reigns and runs with them, or if he isn't ready for primetime then Worley can finish out the year. Hopefully it's A because it's the best option for the team.

The best scenario for the team at this point is that Dobbs heads into spring as the clear number 1. It would mean that he takes the opportunity he now has and leads this team to a successful conclusion to the 2013 season and leaves little doubt to his abilities or potential to grow even more.

I believe the odds were stacked against Peterman in the Florida game. He is not as bad as that performance at Florida. The o-line gave him no time at all. I am not saying he is better than the other three but I remember Peyton playing Florida in the rain and had a awful game and looked terrible, but we all know that he is and was a great QB. All I'm saying is don't judge him on that one performance.

Agree. Likely better than that game.

Maybe they'll understand they're just a play away from an injury and an opportunity.

Oh, wait.

I'm also hopeful there are more reasons to stay at UT than just playing time....

Though...with no qb recruit in this class, that may not be an issue anyway.

Pretty sure CBJ said in his presser Ferguson had a minor injury and thats why dobbs went in, so no Riley will still compete next year.

Peterman, yes he will be gone. He sucks!

Worley will be a great signal caller lol.

No. They asked CBJ in the post game. They specifically asked if it was an injury related decision. He said "Worley could've went, we decided to put dobbs in." Then they asked about if ferguson was dinged up and he said "no it was just a coaches decision."

I hate to be negative, but he looked terrible against Austin peay as well. Don't say it was with the second team line. If our second team can't handle Austin peay while they also had second team trickling in then there's a problem.

If Peterman does transfer, it would be interesting to know if that opens up another spot for '14 recruiting? I know this is more of a question for UT, but thought I would throw it into this fray.

I think Peterman is gone and I think Fergie will stick around for another year to see what happens. Just because Dobbs had a couple of good series against an Alabama team that was beating our a***es doesn't mean that he will be the starter from now on.

@ OP....a much more interesting question is "how are we going to beat Missouri"

I could give a rat's ass what QB does or does not transfer.

Just win baby!

Ferguson is in the drivers seat. He will most likely get a red-shirt.

Worley will be back next week probably unless he needs surgery.

Peterman can't play but will be open probably 1-3 weeks.

The competition will between Dobbs and Peterman. We won't know until next summer.

Exactly.

The quarterback depth chart in 2023 doesn't concern me much right now.

If Dobbs performs, he keeps the job heading into next season.

Ferguson isn't going to give up though. Too much of a competitor from what I have seen first hand.

Peterman should have already been looking at which school to transfer to and Worley will be what he has always been, a fine backup.
