What are the dirtiest programs in NCAA history?

Most if not all of the members of the SWC in the late 70's and 80's.

The U and FSU probably rank up there pretty high if we're making a list.

I'm certain many schools still teeter on the line still, and some may even cross it very discretely to a degree, but the golden age of "pay for play" will never reach the level of blatant arrogance that it did when we had stories like "Trans A&M".

I'll add that if you want to go to college and play sports, and you have severe character issues off the field, go to texas. Their PR and compliance dept are one in the same and they'll get all that stuff covered up for you.

Wooden was dirty because a booster was a loser?

It's well known wooden knew who he was and tried to keep players away from him.

A simple google search of John Wooden and cheat links a great article about the situation from espn.

So, basically, you're saying that Wooden knew what Gilbert was doing but didn't turn Gilbert in to anyone?

It's SMU and it's not close i guess from actual evidence.

It's just more enjoyable for the idiots on this board to say wooden as if they have some inside information.

Linking Bonds and Wooden is a joke.

Why?

They both were successful by being dirty.
Many of their contemporaries were also dirty.
They were, by far, the most successful.
Neither had their records taken away.

Why is the comparison a joke?

A guy who won a national championship as a player, college player of the year and an NBA scoring champion knew zero about the game apparently.

It's all due to a booster. I got it. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Being highly successful as a player is not evidence of great coaching ability.
If the two correlated perfectly, then Tennessee would lead the nation in offense, because our staff scored more combined points in their playing careers than any other NCAA staff.

They won their conference two years before he got there, and he turned them around to do the exact same thing. Good for him.

So if I'm reading this right, you're saying that Wooden going from 1 tourney appearance every 3 years to 7 national titles in a row was just due to him suddenly maturing as a coach at age 53? It didn't have much to do with the future NBA MVPs they suddenly started pulling in?[/

I feel like I am talking to piers Morgan.

With all due respect you are too stupid for me to further debate.

All the best.

What are you saying?
It's stupid for you to try to argue with the facts he's bringing to the table?

Dude, he has over 7000 likes. He must be doing something right.

Not saying everyone who has a lot of likes does it, but a lot of them simply post pro-UT stuff and people love reading it. I could do it all day and get so many more likes.

Such watertight logic. The French loved Jerry Lewis. Did that make him funny?

Actually he was popular over here too. Again, he must have been doing something right.

I don't know if I would be writing about post and averages if I were you. You have over 5000 post on a rival site yourself and if one uses the "likes" as the average then Jax Vol is has a better average than you.

Ok, you miss the point. A mob of people crucified Jesus. Did that make it OK to murder an innocent person from a morality standpoint?

Here's the difference:

I don't post for likes. I'm an opposing fan. If I kissed butt here, then I would have a lot more likes. But as I said before, I'm not into that sort of thing. If other rival fans want to do that, it's fine. Just not my thing.

And your math logic is somewhat flawed. The like system hasn't been in place for the length of time that I've been here. Jax_Vol has been here for a little over a year. 17,000 posts. Since the like system was in place, I have about 1,500 posts. But again, I don't really care about being popular- that's a high school scene.

The majority of my posts came before the likes started iirc. And I post mainly in this forum and endzone.

Exactly. I can't believe we're even having this discussion.

Exactly.

I've seen some posts on here that receive between 20-50 likes, and they've often been some of the most ridiculous things I've seen posted on a message board. All that means, generally, is that there are 20-50 other idiots that agree with that post.

Well, I'm giving you a like, so you can close in on gasguy's average. I bet you feel smarter already.

I returned the favor. If you will simply add terms like 'Gator', 'Bammer', and 'VFL' to your posts, your likes should increase exponentially.
