What are you going to do next season?

The problem with this line of thinking is that the program as is and with the last few years is that the program might lose more money because Donors and Season Ticket Holders have been "sold" on the new hires numerous times and may vote now their displeasure with their wallets

If you haven't seen this years request from Season ticket Holders I will be happy to send it to you
I will also send to you the last 5 years.
Same old song...different verse

You must realize that CBJ is trying to win the hearts and minds over the Donors right now due to the deadline that is FAST approaching.

No program can count on single game tickets

YOU should ask CBJ if he agrees with your line of thinking because I can guarantee , he does not

Waaaaa I'm not spending any more of my hard earned money.......blah blah blah.

On behalf of myself, The University of Tennessee, and CBJ I would like to say keep your money, Shut the Truck up, and stay home.

Thanks

The thing I have a problem wrapping my brain around is taking money away from a program because it's down. I just don't understand the logic of fans who do this....I can't argue with them about it, because it truely is their personal decision. I just don't understand it.

here is how i see it.

this situation is far from a simple "i didn't get exactly what i wanted so i'm taking my toys and going home."

lip service is easy and cheap, but when someone chooses to put their money where their mouth is (especially in this economy) it becomes serious. rational people understand the vagaries and inconsistencies of sports and realize that there are invariably going to be times that are good and times that are not so good, and that hanging tough and helping the program get back to the good times can be a source of pride.

this last coaching search has brought to light the many problems that exist on The Hill, ranging from financial and facilities issues to the more important issues of academic constraints that all combine to put UT at a decided disadvantage when it comes to getting and keeping the best players and coaches. most people think that ND made it to the NC because Kelly is simply a great coach, but ND's change in their academic policies was probably a more important factor.

all of this did not happen overnight, and won't be fixed overnight, if it is ever fixed. LWS said that it might take 10 years to straighten out. and it all was not created by dumbasses named Hamilton, Kiffin, and Dooley -- other dumbasses played and are playing a major role. and perhaps more importantly, it can't all be fixed by the current or future ex coach regardless of who he is.

so, imo for someone who wants the best for UT in the long run the choice becomes

1) keep writing the checks, enjoying the thrill of the occasional season over .500, and hoping all gets better, or

2) help send the message that is only effectively communicated by a half-empty Neyland stadium: UT, Knoxville, and the state of Tennessee simply cannot afford to not have all parties aligned and doing whatever it takes to get and keep the football program competitive.

Thanks for the description how many Donors are feeling about now
I could not describe it as well as you

When dealing with a Large University there are few ways to send a message of our displeasure with the University practices and the staff

Many will question the loyalty to the team but most of those people are not facing a 3/01 deadline for the decision

My question to all of these people .. How else do those of us who have given to the University for years without regard to the season record and poor AD and Upper Level Management Decisions send a a vote that says quit all of these practices and spending that put us at a disadvantage
Don't give me the crap about writing a letter ....that does not work

I have got to hand it to you. That was a very well thought out and written post.

I'm too lazy to put that much effort into a long post.

The ND thing is very true too. Vandy did the same thing and look at what is happening there (at least for now). If you look at all the private schools that are doing well in FBS football, my guess is you'll find that right before their rise up the ranks started, they lowered their academic standards for athletes to be in line with their rivals.

Can't blame the fans for doing the same as the AD and going cheap. For the first time I can remember I spent exactly $0 on UT related holiday gifts. If the school won't make an earnest effort to improve the on field product, I see no reason to support that decision with my $$.

CBJ knows what I do. When he wins games the stands will be full. My problem is the crying that goes on here. We've hired a guy with a good ethic who has proven he can win.
To cry on VN is stupid Till he has given anyone a reason to do so.

Shut up and stay home. You won't be there long. Then you can lie and say you were behind this hire the whole time. ( people in general, I'm not calling you out)

I think you were calling him out. I wouldn't take that if I were him.

OH if it were so easy to become a bandwagon fan and to jump off due to the decisons I don't agree with or the bad seasons

I survived the 80's , I can survive this

Don't get me wrong,I hope beyond hope that CBJ is the answer
But I have jumped on so many bandwagons I am exhausted
GBO and CBJ is the answer and the VOLS will win 10 games this year
I am trying to believe...really but 3/01 doesn't give me much time before I have to open my wallet....again

Not all of the 80's were bad. One of my fondest memories is of listening (couldn't afford a tv) to the '85 Sugar Bowl on the radio with my wife. Was really surprised the neighbors didn't call the police with all the screaming going on.

I will continue to buy UT merchandise. Wish I could do season tickets, but the money isn't going to be there this year. I decided to go back to college to finish my degree. I'll make a few games and the rest I'll catch on tv. One big advantage of tv is I can drink my beer throughout the game!

Just a question for all those who say that they are going to wait and see what CBJ does before they believe or give him any support.

What are you going to do next season?

A quote from another post

"I am not gonna invest time, money, and energy into this hire until I can digest a whole season"

I have read plenty of post just like the one above, to all of you that think this way I ask.

What are you guys/gals going to do next season? Not wear your orange? Don't buy tickets or merchandise?

I'm going to watch/attend as many UT games as I can

Here's what I have a problem understanding. Tell me if I get it right.

1. Expect a well known (winning) coach.

2. 4 and 5 star players to come play at Tennessee

3. Once we get the players here. You expect them to go out and give their blood, sweat and tears so you can be proud of their record and brag about how great the Vols are. (return on so-called investment).

4. Expect this to all happen in a half empty stadium.

I have never seen a team take the field and not want to win, ever and that's in any sport. Some of these kids will end up with injuries and some will end up going through multiple surgeries jut so you can be proud.

So you expect everyone to give their all while you sit back and watch and wait to see what happens. Then IF they start winning then you will give back to UT, but not till then. Sounds fair to me. SMH

So we expect our AD to give their all, we expect the coaches to give their all, we expect the best players to come and give their all. As a fan I will give my all and support them anyway I can during these tough times.

Have you given your all for Tennessee today?

I believe in CBJ and I believe Hart is trying to fix the problems.

I will give my all today and expect everyone else to do the same.

I just hope those that take a break don't show back up when we start winning again. I have a feeling some of you that are taking a break will be the 1st in line celebrating our victories and telling everyone how you are the biggest die hard Vol fan.

You is being used as a general term, but if you think I'm talking about you, well I might be.

That's because we've got all these young people who say screw tradition let's change things up.....then follow it up by giving us the crap you see at the pregame now.

I was at the games under Dooley, I'll be at the games under CBJ.

With 40 years of UT football, can't see taking that out of my life regardless of the coach.

This year is kind of a pass for Jones if he doesn't do that well. I'm excited, but I definitely won't make any predictions. I'll take success on a game to game basis and look forward to a season that has me believing for 2014.

Ask yourself why?

Answer: The fans create the atmosphere.

If that does not give you a reason to show up and at least try and create the most electrifying college football atmosphere in the country then I don't know what will.

This kinda reminds me of

Tracy Lawrence - Find Out Who Your Friends Are

Tracy Lawrence - Find Out Who Your Friends Are - YouTube

Everybody wants to slap your back
wants to shake your hand
when you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way then you slide back down look up
and see who's around then

This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off

How much do you love your Vols?

A big shout out to all the true Vols fans who continue to give their all for for the VOLS!!!!

Not real sure what there was over the past 4 years to bandwagon off of. If people were fans during that time period especially, they can be fans no matter what. The notion hat just bc you aren't attending a game in person, does not make you a fan, is truly ignorant but not a surprising notion brought on by the ignorant.

Just as some of you have complained about people not being 100 percent behind cbj and telling them they don't have to look on VolNation...well the same goes for you. You don't have to read everything posted. If you are living in a world where you believe your opinion is the only one that matters, then I'd almost assume you were cdd himself in here.

If you cheer at home wearing your Tennessee gear that's your prerogative. Get on VN, exercising your right to free speach, saying "because they hired CBJ I'm not spending any more money on anything ut" Then I will exercise my right to call you a Dumdazz.

Cool. Thank god you aren't the one who decides a person can be a fan of. In your case, ignorance must be bliss. You may call me a dumbazz all you'd like. Doesn't mean much from a pos like yourself.

I think this thread has exhausted every argument on this subject possible. Could somebody please close it and we can move on to another equally boring topic. Thanks.
