What are your expectations now?

I'm more than willing to debate. I do it all the time ... with people who are willing to do it themselves and are actually worthy of the time it takes to do it.

Being a mindless, coach-worshipping sheep is all well and good ... but you don't get to whine and be a jerk about it when people don't agree with your position.

Now if you'll excuse me I have an early Thanksgiving dinner to attend with people I actually care about ... because I'm not a bitter troll like someone else here. :)

Is Kendra Davis someone you consider worthy of your time?

I don't worship anyone or anything, and if I did, I assure it wouldn't be the coach of a college basketball program. If I was a "sheep," I'd fall into the "sky is falling" crowd like 80% of the people who post here. I never follow the crowd.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

I'm sorry, sweetie. Blow-up dolls aren't people, but you go have fun anyway.

..."You're not a D1 coach, you don't know what you're talking about," is not really an argument...

Bingo. So by that faulty logic I can't take my car to the auto mechanic and tell him he didn't fix it because well, I'm not an auto mechanic. Or I can't tell my dentist that the cap she put on has something wrong with it and is hurting because I'm not a dentist. Hogwash.

I agree with you 100%. I know very well how a good basketball team plays and what that looks like. The LV's don't look like that right now. I think (hope) they will. But the last two games weren't good games.

She started it, G Mule...lol

you know I'm always the perfect gentleman...

well I'm not sure about that gule lol but there is no reason for a discussion to turn into bashing somebody's personal life, especially if you don't know them

...If this team had a healthy Diamond DeShields, this crisis conversation is not happening...

Unproveable (is that a word?) but in her first three games Deshields is shooting 25% and hasn't made a three point shot. Is it her injury? Is it her unfamiliarity with her teammates and the offense? I don't know. I doubt seriously she stays at 25% but at UNC she shot 43% including 28% from three point range. She was a volume shooter putting up over 18 shots a game.

But let's assume she has the same average in the Syracuse and PSU games she had at UNC (18 ppg). That would be an extra 12 maybe 13 points for the LV's. But those shots (and minutes) come at the expense of somebody else's shot (and minutes) and it's impossible to guess whether her shot replaces somebody else's make or a miss.

So maybe the LV's would have beaten PSU 86-66 and Syracuse 69-55. Does this "fix" the offense? I don't know.

i think DeShields need some playing time to knock off the rust and i don't know what is wrong with the perimeter shooting, other than nobody is hitting them much :)

I thought I couldn't despise a fan base any more than I despised UCONN's but geesh, our fan base is starting to make its way to the top and that's sad!

I intensely dislike but simultaneously respect UConn's women's basketball program. I don't particularly care one way or the other about the UConn fan base because I don't interact with them.

I love the Lady Vols. I positively despise the Tennessee fan base. They are a perfect storm of ignorance and entitlement. I have a lot of Lady Vols/Tennessee gear that I wear locally and to games, but I refuse to wear it elsewhere because I don't want others I encounter to assume I'm like some of the people who post here.

I'm the same way. I'm really hoping alot of people don't really read half the things posted here! Lol its become quite embarrassing to say the least. I just love how Holly is to blame for EVERYTHING! Hell if one of the player's shoe fell off during the game posters would say...."That damn Holly, she can't even teach the kids to tie their shoes properly!" I also love how people have already stated we're not going to make the FF after only 3 games....these post have become quite comical. I would join you in engaging with half of them but I really don't even want to feed into their negative energy towards the team.

For sure I was conjecturing and we will never know what impact a healthy DeShields might have had on the game but....Barring injuries she would have had more practice time; she would have driven to the rim, creating fouls and defensive mismatches; she would have probably drawn double teams; he defensive game would have been better. So, there is a a whole series of difference that are not quite captured by her shooting and scoring averages. I guess another way to phrase the question is whether or not it is reasonable to expect an NCAA freshman of the year and pre-season AA candidate playing at her best, to make the LVs and to be able to impact a game against the PSU and Syracuses of this world. I am willing to go out on a limb and say, yeah, quite likely.

well who cares what she drives ? and ya'll are getting a little bit to personal on your attacks on each other,I don't mind a good friendly debate, which is what this board is about

we are all Lady Vol fans obviously and have many different opinions, whether we like it or not, please try and keep it civil in here,it is starting to look like the Football forum

which isn't a good thing :)

Thank you for that! I hope the LVs put in a dominating performance soon or this board will degenerate into the Zombie Apocalypse.

CHW isn't very good at interviews and that isn't going to change,CHW is doing a great job, think about it,she is winning a tad over 80% of the Lady Vols games, which isn't to shabby at all

and doing it with teams that have had a ton of injuries to key players every year,my biggest hope this year is no major injuries for a change, wouldn't that be great ?

as far as my expectations for this year, there same as all ways, make the Tournament first, then worry about what is going to happen, there is way to much basketball to be played before I even worry about the Tournament

Yea, not to good at interviews. Still use to a Reality Check and CPHS was good about that. You knew when the team was going to be puking their guts out at 4 AM before they did.

you shouldn't despise any of us,just keep in mind, that people that post on a message board probably aren't as mean and nasty as there post are in real life

at least I'm hoping it is that way :),the love of watching the Lady Vols is what has brought us together as a fan base and for this message board

we all have different opinions of what needs to be done,to get the Lady Vols to where we all want them to be at and should respect there opinions

whether we like them or not

Maybe it was the constant posting back and forth that had an emotional impact on you. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I think it would be best if you clarified this statement, "I positively despise the Tennessee fan base." At the risk of stating the obvious, YOU are a member of the Tennessee fan base.
I find the reasoning for your refusal to wear LV/Tennessee gear elsewhere to be puzzling, to say the least. You don't wear it elsewhere because you don't want to be perceived in the same way as "some of the people who post here" ?
Women's college basketball fans account for a small percentage of the general population. Only a small percentage WCBB fans also read VolNation. If you travel to Boston or Chicago or Los Angeles, with a Lady Vol sweatshirt on, just how many people do you think you will you run into that have read VolNation ? Answer, not many.
Even if you could find one, why would you assume that they are going to have a negative reaction to a LV/Tennessee fan ? They might actually admire the fan base's fervor.
Quite frankly, I have NEVER met a die hard fan of a team/University who is so embarrassed of their team's fans that they don't want to be associated with them (out side of the extreme examples given below). And I still don't think I have.
It's not like we're rioting, assaulting and looting after a team win. We haven't submitted a petition demanding the ouster of a coach. All we're doing is expressing our opinions of how effective our coach is. And for this you're so embarrassed you don't want to be associated with those fans ? For this you actually despise those fans ?
I don't agree with everyone here on every topic (Gule's political persuasion comes to mind) but I don't despise the entire fan base (or Gule) because of that.
Sorry, it just doesn't add up..

Sure would hate to hear what all would have been said about the Lady Vol's had lost the game like Ohio State did last night

I wear Tennessee shirts and LV shirts and caps everywhere I go. I've attended every SEC Tournament plus a variety of regional and NCAA tournaments. I've attended Lady Vols basketball and softball games all over the country and the most I've ever heard anybody say is go big orange. Occasionally someone will ask me about the team or when I graduated.

I don't care for all the bickering on the board now but the above statement just rubs me the wrong way. I wear my colors all over this country and everywhere I go, someone shouts out a "how about them Vols" even if they are not a Tennessee fan. I have never had a bad moment except maybe in Alabama. With all your boasting and posturing in these last threads I would think you would take more pride in your team than this. :ermm:

We have some fans who see problems with how the team is playing and want something done about it sooner rather than later. Other fans who think that given time the problems will work themselves out. Still another group that points to a 3-0 record and thinks that we're already doing fine. There's still another group that thinks the landscape of WCBB has changed dramatically and that winning 75-80% of our games, getting into the NCAA playoffs and being eliminated in the round of 16 or 8 is acceptable.
Based on the last few years performances, I'm in the first group. While we should get better as the season rolls along, so will our opponents. I don't know how you could have watched the Penn State and Syracuse games and not thought that changes are necessary.
Let's assume that the landscape has changed and that there is more competition at the top than ever before. How do you explain ND and uconn ?
One has been to the NCAA championship game in 4 of the last 5 years and the other has won the championship the last 3 years in a row. Why would they be able to do something that we aren't ?
