What belief grounds you the most to your party?

Your idea is a huge stretch. Me having a gun in my house and keeping it there in any manner I wish is my right. Once someone breaks into my house and takes possession of that gun, I cease to be responsible for anything it is used for. The idea of holding someone responsible because someone stole their gun and then used it in a crime is absurd.

A gun owner should bare the responsibility of securing their weapon. Some responsible gun owners do. If this became an accountable action, I would be all for it. No one should have a loaded gun under their bed.

Are you sure you live in Memphis? I kid I kid..:p

It really is none of your concern how a gunowner decides to store their gun in their house.

It becomes my business as soon as someone picks it up and walks into a mall/school/auditorium/church/etc and kills without malice.

I don't fear responsible gun owners or their guns, I fear irresponsible gun owners and people that have access to their weapons.

because God knows how much time you have when you're the victim of a home invasion style robbery and the thugs are armed and are looking for more than just your valuables.

Sure, keep your gun, unloaded and in a locked safe in the closet. Keep the key in the silverware drawer and keep the ammo behind the box of Grape Nuts.

By the time you're ready to defend yourself, you're dead.

Is this true for guns only or all deadly weapons? What if someone stole a fork from your house and then used it later to stab someone? Should you be responsible because you did not store your deadly weapon (silverware) responsibly?

Favorite bumper sticker of all time:

"My gun has killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy's car"

So at that point who is responsible, the stolen gun owner who is a victim of a crime himself, or the person perpetrating the crime? Once the gun has been stolen from the gun owner he no longer bears any responsibility for any crime the gun is used to commit. You are putting the blame on a law abiding citizen.

keeping a gun in my house where it is easily accessible is not being irresponsible. I can understand the thought if it was in a car but not a house. I have some that are locked in a safe but there are 2 where I could get them in case of emergency. I don't want to be searching for the keys while someone is in my house.

that's why I only have sporks in my house. If they stab someone it will barely break the skin

pj I have banned all metal silverware for fear of being shanked by someone in my home. I use only the flimsy plastic forks and spoons. So to all of you out there if you get shanked don't blame me.

good for you! responsible silverware ownership starts at home

remember the second Riddick movie? he killed a buy with a metal coffee cup and was about to use a spam key to shank a guy.

how does one murder people wantonly without malice?

Don't you get it? The gun owner entrapped this poor burglar by giving him access to a gun (once he kicked in the door) and therefore this would be cold blooded murderer cannot be responsible because he was set up by the NRA. Come on don't tell me you can't put two and two together?:p

don't forget that the gun manufacturers are responsible too. Just like the silversmiths at Oneida will be liable if your chafing dish is stolen and used to commit a crime.

You have an interesting perspective considering the child in your avatar. What if that child were harmed by a law abiding citizens loaded 9 from under their bed taken without their knowledge? No big deal right? No accountability on the owner, right?

Not one bit! The owner did not pull the trigger on my child. All blame lies with the person who discharges the weapon.

Find me one story where someone with a loaded gun under the pillow fended off death becaue they had quick access to the weapon. You watch too many movies.

find me a story that shows that the thugs committing home invasions are saying "please" and "thank you" while sipping tea and quoting bible verses while they rob the homeowners blind.
