What belief grounds you the most to your party?

You need to re-check your stats. The clinton admins best was around 4.5 (which is great and not knocking him at all) but I can never remember seeing below 4. The thing is until recent 6 would be considered great or even 7%.

As far as gas price goes that is not the blame of Bush. This scenario has been in progress for several years. Congress will not allow drilling and the EPA standards for refineries has put it so expensive that there is no competition for the Big Boys. Congress bares the majority of the blame for gas. Not this nor any other President.

Oct-Dec of 2000 the rate was 3.9.

Lack of competition and government regs are more to blame than anything else for the price of gas. Many don’t realize but we don’t get the oil that we use to make gas from the Middle East. Canada is the biggest supplier to the US of Light Sweet crude which is the cheapest and most used for gasoline. Heavy Crude requires more refining and becomes heating oil and Diesel etc.

It's very coincidental that Bush is an oil man that stands to gain from increased prices if consumption decreases....but I understand all the toher dynamics at play as well.

Why yes allvol123, it's sky rocketed to from 4.5 to 5%. BTW 5% is considered full employment.

there's not really an agreed upon % but most definitions have it between 2-7%

At the very least not make it more difficult. yes, I believe we are saying the same thing - my analogy was the govt opening the door and it being up the the people to actually walk through...

(to continue your analogy) what I want is for the gov't to keep their rears on the couch and make it the person's responsibility to open their own door. Especially since they want me to tip them for opening it

I hear this a lot. Do you have any proof that W is profiting from the high price of gas? His recently released tax returns would seem to indicate otherwise.

I have the same proof that W is profiting from oil that W had about WMD's in Iraq. Nothing more than a hunch, or as some would say, connecting the dots.

so you have a National Intelligence Estimate and an assessment by Britain's MI5. You also have the full support of the Clinton administration and nearly every member of Congress, past and present, through the early part of 2003?

I bet you and Volunteer Kirby would have a lot to talk about.

So you are saying that you have the consensus of many democrats, intelligence from the UN and many other countries to boot. I have not seen this documentation!

Defense by blaming others.

Did you guys happen to see Frontline: Bush's War a couple of weeks ago?

Would that be defense by blaming others or would that be collusion? Are you saying that other countries and the UN were in on a plan to make war? Seriously the UN?
I have not. Isn't that a program that is on PBS? And what does it have to do with the intelligence from multiple sources about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction?

playing a hunch and connecting the dots are the preferred methods of those suffering from BDS.

The only source of information used to base a connection of WMDs and Iraq was the CIA. All this search for other countries and UN connections is hunting for blame after the fact.

The central players in the information - Bush, Cheney, Powell, Tenet, and Wilson.

I really wish we had found a huge stockpile of yellow cake uranium and OBL sitting next it. But we didn't. And that failure is an ugly reality that I hope our governement won't repeat.

Now, whose denying what?

In Bush's case for the war he cited multiple sources including the UN among others. Why do you choose to ignore that? i would claim that some people hate Bush so much they actually have to ignore or make up facts. Believe me there is plenty to disagree with Bush on without inventing things.

if we had, you and your fellow travelers would have claimed that it was planted by the CIA and that bin Laden was being portrayed by an actor.

Yes - they went to the horse's mouth - people who worked on the ground before and during the war, people who were in the meetings, who were part of the decision-making bodies. It was utterly depressing.

And, like you, I badly wanted us to uncover Iraq's WMDs, etc. I supported the war when it started, b/c I believed what the administration told us (the world). I wanted them to be right.

Why do you think I hate Bush. Why is that anyone that questions the man instantly called a hater by the far right?

I would not consider myself far right. And i am at fault for assuming you to be far left. It just came off to me that you were ignoring the support of the UN and other intelligence sources, of our intelligence pre invasion.

It amazes me that anyone takes "intelligence" as gospel in either direction. The enemy does not give it to you on a silver platter. At best it is an estimate that you are reasonably comfortable about being correct about.

The only intelligence used to invade Iraq came from the CIA. It was the famous "smoking gun". The support from the UN was strong armed based on the CIA information. It was a joke at best.

And this has been confirmed by who?(Not being sarcastic)

So the UN can be strong armed? Perhaps we should back out of this organization.
