What changes would you make?

I’d get a really good defensive cordinator let him bring with him his hand picked DB and LB coaches.

As far as offense is concerned , well seems to me it only works with 2 really good WR’s and a QB that can throw with accuracy. I’m not sure if it’s possible but maybe throw in a check down weapon within the offense. Seems that trying to develope young QB and young WRs in this system means long season ahead. If you run the fast paced stuff then you’re only going to wear your own defense out by mid 3rd qtr. Pick your poison I guess. GoVols and hope we can figure this thing out. Money talks.

Heupel is either smart enough to know changes are needed or he’s going to pull a Fulmer and keep coaches that aren’t carrying their weight. If he does the latter we’ll most likely slip right back into mediocrity.

There isn’t one assistant that should be comfortable right now, thus, this is the perfect time for Heupel to flat out tell them “this isn’t acceptable”. Every coach should have to make the case why they should be retained. I do give Enge a bit of a pass because it was his first year and the heart & soul of the LB group was lost early in the year.

Each assistant should also be pressed what is he is going to do to take recruiting to another level as well. We need more studs across the board.
My guess is he goes with the latter.

It was obvious that OSU made a number of changes to their O scheme that caught our D by surprise. Looked like our O just did the same ol same ol which they had prepared for. It either defenses have figured out this offense or we don't have the players to run it effectively. Either way I think offensive play calling has to change to match our skill sets or player evaluations are just bad.

Agree the road issues are a problem. Why we could not score in the 1st half of the games there for awhile was a strange one.
This, but if we don't have the players to run Heupels offense, which he has been recruiting for 4 years, we're beyond screwed. He did better with Pruitts anemic offensive players.

Pruitt was a bad HC, but anemic? He left Heupel with Hooker, Tillman, Jones, Hyatt, Small, Fant, and Warren along with 2 of the 3 best OL we’ve had in probably 15 years in Mays and Wright and Heupel hasn’t even been able to get backup OL out of HS outside of Umarov

Jesus dude, step away from the ledge. We don't need to start firing coaches and go back into the miserable pit of coach merry go round.
The offense didn't do as much as before because CJH did not trust Nico to make the necessary calls at the line. Remember he is just a RS freshman.

Rick Barnes has been coach for 10 years - in year 9 he finally wins the SEC and makes the sweet 16

Tony Vitello has been 7 seasons, took him 4 to get to the college world series and in the 7th to win it all

Took Pat 5 seasons to win the conference and the 8th to make the final four and 13th to win the title
Nico is a major factor. If a team feels their QB is not capable when playing better teams, the effort level falls. That's just human nature. I really hope he improves next season or we're in for a long year.

I meant his offensive production was anemic
