Last night: ham and beans, using canned beans once I realized how much water I would need for dried beans
Tonight: Ingles freezer aisle MRE, a one-skillet dinner served over microwaved Minute Rice brown rice. If you are ever anticipating a water outage, grab some meals like these. Another brand: Voila by Birds Eye, altho the sodium, holy crap.
When meal planning in a weather water outage, think three things:
(1) water needed for prep (rinsing vegetables etc)
(2) water needed to cook (1/4 - 1/2 cup in the skillet; can you sub with boxed chicken stock, etc?)
(3) water needed to clean up (can you serve on paper plates? plastic utensils? - a one skillet meal means only one pot to clean)
