What did you have for dinner II?

Never had that. Good?
Ha, I will just have to say that it sounds good. 🤪

But my standard for these things is the umpty-billion Swanson chicken pot pies that my grandmother bought and pretty much lived on for the last decade or so of her life, so it gives me warm fuzzies, as close as I can get to her scratch-made chicken and dumplings.

Haha! Gotcha.

Funny how things like that can give ya such memories! Got a few myself.

I have made both chicken pot pie and chicken & dumplings from scratch. Each are worthy of the effort. My missus prefers pot pie.

Cooking chili for a weekend down on Lake Santeetlah. No idea what I'm eating tonight, but the chili starts with chunks of 3 lbs. of chuck roast + bacon; then onions, carrots (still think this is weird, but I'll allow it), diced poblanos (I am a weenie), garlic; then chili powder, cumin, oregano, cinnamon (yes, you read that right), ground cloves, allspice (ditto); then beer, beef broth, a ton of cannned tomatoes, chipotles in adobe sauce (they now come already diced in a jar! - life is good); eventually adding in 2 drained cans of black beans, ground UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE (!!!), and powdered espresso.

Google chili cinnamon chocolate coffee and get happy. Once it's all done, you don't taste separately the cinnamon, chocolate, or coffee (or the cloves or allspice), but you get this amazing depth and smokiness that's just... I dunno, but I love it. (Not bragging on my cooking, this is just a combination of three recipes online.)
