What do you define as rich?

"Rich" would be the ability to pay cash for a Bugatti Veyron and then use it as a daily driver.

Yes. If you have lamb as part of your dinner rotation you're probably rich. I don't know the actual cost of Lamb because I don't eat it. I'm more a NY strip or T-Bone man but if Lamb is in your food arsenal I'm labeling you a rich snob.

How many times per year would you define as being "in your dinner rotation?"

I can't eat veal. It seems just so inhumane. I know it's baby cow and not lamb but I view them kinda the same. I just feel bad. Same reason I never order live lobster at seafood places. I just can't point to an animal and kill it.

:eek:lol: Sarah Palin would be SO disappointed in you.

I don't think you are rich if you work a standard job for a living. I'd consider rich to be someone with sufficient assets that the interest, ROI, etc., generates enough money to live comfortably (and to generate additional money to add to the main nut to keep pace with inflation). For me, that would be around $20 million.

This is crazy. I think we all can agree wealth is relative, so the number should be based on some percentile. In your scenario the richest person in a room of a few hundred (on average) would not be considered rich.

Or less of you?

Yeah, how's that Obama guy doing for you?

The Healthcare bill that passed is a joke and is about to get blown to pieces in court.

He raised the debt way more than he needed to.

He gave money to some banks that none of us on here can figure out why.

He ended up extended the Bush tax cuts that he said we're ethically wrong--thank God he did though.

ETC.

ETC.

ETC.

Reality is, the guy has been a joke in office. Heck it's been Clinton who has had to go and bring back anyone considered a spy by either N Korea and Iran. And I don't mean the Clinto who is actually working under Obama. I mean the Clinton that is no longer the President. The guy who actually knew something.

Looking at the situation from a distance, apolitically if you want, Obama has accomplished a lot. More legislation has been passed during his administration than any other since Johnson. You can call him a joke, but when 2012 comes around, he will be a strong opponent for Republicans to manage.

He's a joke, he had to have Slick Willy come in and justify his stance on the Tax cuts..
What sitting president relinquishes the podium at a white house press conference to a former president it just shows his weakness

I wish Bill could get a few more terms in...

Wealth is relative. I make $7.50/hour. I could not support anyone but myself on that and I'm barely scraping by. The only reason I'm still at my job is because I like the environment. My measly $17k/yr is depressingly low. As a result, at 24 years old I'm moving back in with my parents (who make about $25k apiece) so I can save enough money to move to GA and go to college.

I've never once been above the poverty line. I have no idea what it's like living with an excess of money. What is wealth? I have no idea.

I got the opinion you were much older. The lady in the pic must have been your mom. I thought it was your wife. You are past 23 and can qualify for a pell grant now in the state you've lived in for the last 6 months. You could probably get enough money to go to school and pay rent. You want to save the enviornment become a lawyer.

I got pell grants to pay for my two years as a mechanical engineering student.

That wasn't my mom, it was Christina Hendricks from Mad Men, before it was Kari Byron from Mythbusters. I have a thing for redheads. :hi:

I'm going to school to be a graphic designer or architect. I have no interest in becoming a lawyer, I'm not very persuasive and I don't like to lie.

I see. So if 100 people are in a room 99 have $200 in their pocket and 1 has $201 that guy is the rich guy? You need to drop this absurdity that your neighbor being richer than you makes you poor.

The richest 1% of U.S. households had a net worth 225 times greater than that of the average American household in 2009. The previous record was 190 times greater set in 2004.

The widening gap came even as wealthy households' average net worth tumbled some 27% to about $14 million. Meanwhile, the average family's net worth plunged 41% to just $62,200 with most of the loss from lower home valuations.

I define as rich as anyone that I can steal from and feel no remorse.

I see so rich peoples houses didn't drop in value? Where are you getting your info? There is no official survey of net worth. Income yes, but not net worth.

And why does this matter to you? This isn't a zero sum game where the less money the rich have the more money everyone else has.

Reserves? 6 year commitment, probably only deploy once, maybe twice.

MGIB + booster was about $1400/mo for me. (I went year round too, summers included). Tennessee has a Helping Heroes grant, which was $1000/semester. And I applied for scholarships throughout undergrad.

I worked a part time job for my first year or two of undergrad, until I got to the point where several of my classes were later at night, and had to stop. I was active duty, though, so as a reservist, you can use those weekends' pay to pay rent.

I think you have about one more year until you'd have to get a waiver for your age. Always a thought.

Yes the value of rich peoples homes did drop but it appears the drop affected the middle class more.

Not so much matter as that I found it interesting the old saying "the rich got richer and the poor got poorer" could be proven.

Gap between rich and middle class grows - Dec. 23, 2010

Considering wealth is relative, that's the only way to define it. This really shouldn't be debatable. The only one being absurd is you.
