What do you expect to be a Successful result from the new Hire?

Do you know who Strong and Fedora are are bringing in as coaches? How many championships did Strong win? He actually called the plays unlike Kiffin where the real OC was Sarkisian. He was awful as an NFL coach, he was an assistant like Dooley on a NC team. Btw how much excitement did Monte bring in the end? He was awful and resigned. The point of all this, exciting is not what we need. We need a good coach like a Strong or Fedora. The excitement will be there after they coach, not before.

And just how patient are the fans, and how patient are you? Can you handle another bottom 2 in the east result?

I'd guess South Carolina fans were pretty excited when they found out Steve Spurrier was their new coach.

Urban Myers brought some love when he came to the SEC as well. It wasn't as exciting but atleast people forgot zook when he came in. None of the coaches on our list makes me forget dooley.

Fedora or Strong would win 7 next year at minimum. Year 2 they will have it turned around.

I honestly will have disagree with you there. This team will be depleted, and the incomming talent will drop off considerably. Next year is going to suck.

Winning the press conference or winning the PR battles don't mean sh-t anymore.

Winning games and winning big again is the only thing that will ever unite and energize this fan base again.

No way to know for sure which coach is going to be able to do that.

There are kids looking for excuses to come here. With Fedora or Strong, we land North and Green. We return a great oline, we return all RBs, we have very good talent at WR. We return all d linemen. We return Maggitt and Johnson. McNeil and Randolph. Bonner and Gray are promising talent. What cloudies all your judgment is you have seen the talent with pathetic coaching. This D returned everyone from a top 40 D in 2011 this year. It was all coaching.

my personal expectations are for Tennessee to be a 10-2, 11-1 or 9-3 type of team. Maybe not every single year but that should be the status quo. Going to New Years and BCS bowls. Basically along the same level as Bama, LSU, FL and GA. Tennessee should compete like a top 10 all time program. I dont expect UT to win the national championship every year. But I do expect them to be in the hunt in the SEC every year and to be a respected program. Not a "once proud SEC and national powerhouse"

I guess another way to put it is I want to feel like UT has a shot to win any and every game it plays. As it stands right now I just hope they dont get destroyed by halftime.

And no, I will not go pull for another team since I dont like it. I choose who I pull for. And if I choose not to watch its because I hate to see my team get embarrassed. Kind of like how I wouldnt want to watch my buddy get his ass kicked.

i expect a good hire to have us back in the sec championship race in 2 years.it will take atleast 1 year to install a new off.scheme and a new def.sumlin in his first year won 10 games.so,i know it can be done.

our first year with a good hire could be from 6wins and a bowl or 10 wins and a bowl.10 wins are not the normal but it can be done with a good hire.

i want a coach to come in and excite the fans and have the players believing they can beat anyone on the schedule.we should see improvement in the first game.tackling, lining up right, taking right angles, for tackles and an overall improvement in the whole team.

so,this is what a good hire should be able to do.

You mean the guy who is barely over .500 in the gawd-awful ACC? No thanks.

I agree with DJ that it's starting to look more and more like we're going to be hiring another stop-gap for three years and then let another AD take a run at getting a real coach. The honest reality is that other than Gruden and Petrino, there aren't really any high quality coaches available this time around. There are some decent guys, but a decent coach MIGHT get 2 or 3 SEC wins a year. Only the elite are truly successful in this conference, and there's just not really any elite guys in the market this year.

No I'm talking about a guy that took over a crap situation, ncaa looming over the program, and he posts UNC's first winning ACC record in a long, long time. Butch couldn't even do that.

The ACC is such an abomination that it's hard to take anything away from success in that conference. That's why I don't want any part of Jimbo Fisher either. The ACC is so bad that even Derek Dooley was able to take one of their middle of the pack teams to the woodshed.

The CUSA was so bad. Didn't hurt Sumlin.
Every conference Urban was in before SEC was bad, didn't hurt him in SEC.
The Big East was so bad, didn't hurt Petrino.

That argument is flawed because they are playing with similar talent than those other bad teams, and in some cases they take over a situation that has them at a talent disadvantage vs. those teams. To ignore those 3 guys when they all have has success in the SEC as coordinators is ridiculous.

Difference is, and I do believe I am right at this, Fisher has been pulling top ten classes for a couple of years, and he still gets beat by the likes of nc state and uf.

The likes of UF? A top 3 team? He got upset by NCSU, it happens. I will take my chances with loaded classes and Fisher as a coach in the SEC.

I agree coaching was the biggest problem now in retrospect. However, with a majority of our major offensive deep threats leaving, more than likely, and the concept of winner being foriegn to the current kids, I just don't see a coach coming in and having a lot of success out the gate. I really don't think we have a fan base that has time for a wait and see type of results. I for one, am ready for UT to matter. The thought of Green and North comming to UT because we pick up Strong is just wishful thinking.

Where FSU should be and where UF is should have brought different results that game, and you have to admit that. I will conceed that if we had any of the coaches you propose other than dooley this year, we probably would of won 9-11 games. I will give you that, but now with 4 year stretch of losing records on top of the schedule of next year and the place we are recruiting, next year will kill any coaching career other than a superstar hire. The other options are not superstar hires.

Green is coming if Graham is here. Fedora would definitely land North as he currently leads for him. Strong would have a great chance at landing north. Then you got guys like Bell and Ramsey who wanted Dooley gone and are looking for an excuse to come here. Offensive threats are leaving, but Bowles, Pig, etc.., are very talented. Offensive line is in great shape for next year. All RBs return as well.

Pig and Bowles may still not be ready to be, the guy. I think the recruiting is totally circumstantial.

How about a coach that is an assistant in the NFL that used to be a good collage head coach? any?

I agree, but there is talent especially with North here.

And if we had a homerun hire that was willing to keep grahm, I would totally agree with you on our talent level. I wouldn't be surprised if some kids on our team don't bolt even for the later rounds because of how poorly this season has turned out.

To be honest, I hope a lot of them do to open spots up for this recruiting cycle.
