If you are a conservative and you do not vote for McCain then you are voting for Obama/Clinton. Conservatives are supposed to be pragmatic and rational. You vote for the guy closest to your beliefs, like him or not.

Why should you vote for someone you dont like? Personally, I dont like any of them so far so I'm holding out.

If you don't have enough of a personal interest at stake to support one side over the other then I guess you may as well keep holding out.

No, see that is the problem. The burden of being pragmatic and rational should not be placed on the voter. Those qualities and ideals should be held by the candidates themselves. If we don't have pragmatic and rational candidates, I'll be damned if I'll vote for a centrist RINO just because he's closer to the right than Hillary or Obama.

I'm so sick and tired of these party loyalists getting on the constituents for not blindly supporting their ham and egg candidates when all they have to do is find true conservatives that believe in limited gov't, low taxes, fiscal responsibility, the 2nd Amendment, protecting our borders, and a well reasoned foreign policy/national defense.

I have no problem in letting the chips fall where they may if I stay home. If you want to continue drinking that Kool-Aid where we continue to prolong the Republic's demise, go right ahead. Personally, I want a change in direction, not a person that will maintain the status quo, or even worse, push us to socialism.

I have a very high personal interest, but I'm not going to give my stamp to any Tom, Dick, Harry, or Jane that comes around saying they are gonna do this and they are gonna do that because to be quite honest with you... they are full of s#%#. The last election I voted in... my vote didnt count and in '04 there was not one candidate in the feild that came remotely close to respresenting me. I have yet to see a candidate in this years election that I would say is worthy of my vote. Ron Paul was but he's not in it any more, so I'm keeping my options open.

The entire problem with the American Political system now a day is that there are only 2 party's that the average person will listen to. Traditionally people are raised Dems. or Reps. and they blindly stick to their party no matter how much garbage said candidate is spewing. The 2 party's really arent that different in the big picture anyway, so what choice do we really have?

I agree wholeheartedly with you here , IMO , until the people in this country admit that there are ( serious ) problems with their beloved parties and our government and are willing to elect who's best for the country instead of who's best for them , this country will continue to spiral down hill . You can call my vote wasted if you choose to , but IMO it will be used the way it's supposed to be to try to elect the person that I think cares more about all aspects of this country , instead of what I would benefit from.

I dont know that I would fault politicians for this quagmire though. It's the responsibility of the American people to open their ears and listen to everything that's out there instead of following some trend. Politicians are going to do what politicians are going to do... it's their nature. I would love to see more partys like the Constitution party out there. Right now we are stuck choosing between 2% milk and whole milk.

I can certainly appreciate all you revolutionaries and your decision to abstain, regardless of how absurd it might seem.

The bottom line for this November is that either Obama or McCain is going to be elected. That might not sit well with you, but it is reality. If you can't pick from those 2 and find one you like, maybe you should vote against the one you most detest.

Imo most people who vote are similar to the politicians that they vote for , they vote for what benefits them .
Most voters do not have the countries best interest at heart.

It's a me me me me attitude

JMO though

I would like to... but I would like to think that my vote has some meaning so if I choose not to vote... to me it shows my displeasure with the candidates we are given to chose from. We havent had a true leader in the White House since Kennedy.

Somewhat! Reagan?:dance2:

How many times did you hear Reagan speak and get motivated? I was only a kid when he was in office but thinking about it now... It's just that when I hear Kennedy or Roosevelt speaking, I feel like they mean what they are saying. The only politician I have heard since I've been of voting age that sounds like he has any passion is Jesse Ventura... as misguided as he may be.

This will be a close election, same as the last two. "Idealisitc" Ds cost their party the election in 2000 by going off the reservation to vote for Nader. If you are a conservative who ordinarily votes R and you either stay home, or vote for a third party fringe candidate, then you are voting for high taxes, socialized medicine, and chaos in the middle east (and it will be much worse than it is now if the U.S. just pulls out without a government capable of sustaining itsself having been established in Iraq). Justify it however you like. We have a two party system. Try to play outside the rules of the game and you hurt your side of that system. That's just reality my friends. :peace2:

Guess what... taxes are high, medical costs are through the roof, and chaos reigns in the middle east already. How's not voting going to hurt me?

Why not go ahead and cast a vote for real change , and I'm not talking about obama. If nothing else a message could be sent that the people in this country want real changes , not broken political promises.

I understand what everyone so far has said and I guess it just solidifies what I already knew.
