What do you realistically expect for the Vandy game?

Whether anyone who predicts Vandy to win is a true fan. All true fans know that we are TENNESSEE, they are just dumb ol Vandy with a long tradition of losing. Have they gotten more competitive, sure. Heck they did something we haven't done in ages, which is beat Florida. But honestly, I don't see a true vol fan ever picking Vandy to beat us on senior day in Neyland when we are the more talented team. We could lose, but anyone who really predicts Vandy to win may possibly need to have their VFL card revoked, or at least stamped with "Negavol".

How can we be better off by losing the last two games? Maybe you can explain how. On the other hand, the players and team will decide this by their performance in the last two games.

So we don't go to a Toilet Bowl game and embarrass ourselves and/or act like we belong with the teams that deserve bowl games. At 6-6 with 3 wins against sub-standard non-SEC teams, we are not a team that deserves to go "bowling".

Maybe you and him can go in the corner and spoon together. A terrible team doesn't beat the likely SEC east champion.

The only reason we have looked terrible is because of the last three teams we have played.

Heh, you are supposed to "Ignore" me. Please do so and go back to pulling your Train

Me and the wife are going to the game this Saturday were hoping for a huge win we want to loose our voice get crazy in those stands and sing rocky top till the cows come home

vols win 24-17 go vols

Bingo! Vanderbilt has a good secondary and they are very opportunistic. We have to run the ball effectively and not put Dobb's in bad down and distance situations.

Vanderbilt only had 57 yards passing compared to Florida's 305 but Vanderbilt still won by 17.

Completely agree. We can out gain them 2-1 and control time of possession, but if we turn the ball over and/or play poor special teams we can and likely will lose. This pos Vandy team is unconventional and opportunistic and snakehead has em believing they're supposed to win.

Fortunately, the team will decide that on the field in the last two games...not you on an internet forum. GBO!

Expectations?

Beat Vandy like a drum and send Franklin come crying! 100-0 would not be bad enough!

Back in 1994, the Vols beat Vandy 65-0. Someone asked a former player later if he could change anything about that season, what would it be. He said he would have gone for two after the last TD against Vandy. Then the final score would have been 66-0. That says it all for me about beating the Commode Dores.

The bowl selection committees decide who deserves to "go bowling", not you. How do you know how well our opponent deserves to "go bowling" also. And would that be 3 wins against sub standard sec teams too?

Non-SEC wins against WKU, USA, and APU should not even be factored in. I said 3 wins, not 4. USC is an SEC foe that we got very lucky to beat. Certainly if we put Vandy and UK in the W column, I hope you're not suggesting that would be something then to crow about? Are you? Quality wins? How absurd.

As for the team we may play in a bowl, well don't expect if UT is in a bowl that we will be playing some BCS power. More likely a weak Big 10 or ACC school that doesn't deserve a bowl either because they also will be around 6-6 and most wins be 2nd tier schools like us. The bowl will pick ANYONE to fill the ticket and sell seats. They don't care about the match as much as the $$$. And the what happens when you lose that Toilet Bowl game to a crappy ACC or Big 10 team? That will give you a lasting memory!

Ignore away GravyTrain. I'll chalk it up to another sunshine pumper who can't honestly look at his own team.

I would love the Vols to roll 44-0 the next two weeks but we are not playing like a team that can do that. The last 3 losses are as much a case of us losing the game as it is of the opponent actually beating us. Mizzou and Auburn games we literally gave away due to poor play; especially on D. You can't allow a team to run for 444 yards against you and consider yourself even a fair team. Face it; we have sucked since mid year.

And the thought of going to a Toilet Bowl game is by no means a lot of inspiration to do better. Maybe we are better off losing these last two games and closing the door on this season and this crop of Vols. I think highly of the Vols but this team stinks and some of the players are not typical Vol talent we are used to seeing in years past when we were good and playing for titles and championships.

The players deserve more respect.

They "deserve" nothing. They EARN respect.

What conference championship team or national championship team did you play on? I assume you must have helped achieve some level of success to be able justify your expectations.

Saturday I expect the players to take charge. I expect the fans to be vocal and get behind this team. I expect special teams to do there job. Finally I expect us to walk out of the stadium with a W. Get up, it's the last home game for 10 months!

If you have no expectations of a level of success for UT's football team, then that's your problem. I expect a team out there that the school can be proud or; year after year. I haven't seen that expectation met in 7 or 8 years. did Mizzou game meet your expectations? How about the Auburn game? Or Florida? They sure didn't meet my expectations.

Most VOL fans expect our team to achieve high every year and althought we may not win the SEC and national titles, we fully expect a team to show desire, a will to win, and athletic excellenace on the field. All of those traits are missing from this year's team.

I was at that game. It was hilarious. :good!:

I expect:

1. A passing touchdown
2. over 100 yards rushing by Neal
3. 40 yards rushing by Dobbs
4. Vandy to make bonehead plays that backfire in their face (a school tradition)
5. Vandy to be worn out by the start of the third quarter (watch to see who has their hands on their hips first)
6. No more than 6 Vandy fans in attendance.

27-24 good guys. Defenses have some trouble stopping each other but due to Tennessee not turning the ball over, Vanderbilt is unable to get easy points like they did against Florida and Georgia. The Vols come up big when it counts and win a close one.

I was at the game and will add the following:

--the game was not as close as the final score
--the Vols ran up the middle on the first two plays for no gain, then pitched it wide to Stewart who went 60+ yds untouched for the first TD
--Tennessee spent the entire 4th quarter running the fullback up the middle to keep from scoring again
--LSU hired DiNardo the week after that game.

He's not the one with the football scholarship. If he has paid money to watch this crap - especially if he is an alum that has already given a pile of money to this university - he can say whatever the @#$! he wants to say.

What do I expect?

Well I expect Tiny to jump offisides at least twice, once when it really hurts.

I expect our running game to be pretty poor as they will put 7 or 8 in the box and cover our wideouts man up 1 on 1.

I expect the D to give up a cupcake TD pass to Vandy because we either completely blew the coverage or we completely forgot how to tackle the receiver.

I expect the DEs to get sealed inside and the RB from Vandy to burn us outside more than I care to watch.

I expect Dobbs to have some big rushing gains up the middle after dropping back to pass; but not be in sync with his receivers again.

I expect at least one big play for Vandy on special teams of 40 or more yards because we seem to always give that special teams play up.

In the end, I expect it to come down to a late FG attempt. Will Palardy do it or will he walk away from UT with a FAIL on his kicking resume while here?

Do you like those odds to win this sucker? I am not comfortable with them.
Dang you are Psychic!

A victory against Vandy at thanksgiving has always been like cranberry sauce.... It's just always on the table!

It's hard to believe we've gone this far.... Two in a row! We've got some serious work to do!

Almost as low as giving up the winning streak against KY
It's pitiful
