What happened to Wright?

Wright is a top 3 RB in the SEC and maybe the best overall. Good receiver too. Since he's bulked up, he's looked a lot like AK. He will go 2 or 3rd round this year but is a 1st round talent. Could sneak into the first after he puts up ridiculous combine numbers. He may be a legit high 4.3, low 4.4 215lb RB. Not many of those in the league.

I hope Sampson is the no. 1 back against the Huskies, and Wright can have a light duty game, or sit it out. Also would like to see Seldon get some work in the 2nd half along with, you guessed it, Nico.

Wright rushed for 120, he probably exerts more energy per rush so I can see why he tires out faster. He hammers down that R2 boost button.

I’ll take more Sampson though! Absolute monster.
Sampson is starting to remind me of Alvin Kamara…I wonder if the extra weight Wright put on since last year has impacted his conditioning?

fresh legs vs a tired defense always a good idea
In the 4th Q, UK was gaaassssed. There pass rush just ran up and leaned in the OL. That big play shovel pass by DS was the result of running right into the DT, but the guy didn't even put his arms around him.
Nice game plan by Josh & Co. 1. Stop #1 and make them beat us in the air (dang, that QB & OL nearly did). 2. Wear UK down due to lack of depth.

All 3 of our backs are noticeably more stout than last year. Nice off season work by all.

Wright is one of the best backs in the country. Full stop. Look at his YPC. Sampson is learning to hit holes faster and make one cut instead of two. He does very well when the defense is tired and particularly when he hits the second level in stride or improvises on a bust, but still struggles with forcing a hole open. Wright has been fighting something all season that gets him winded. He wears a rib jacket so I assume it’s bruised ribs. If he played four quarters, he’d be the nation’s leading back in YPG. We’re very lucky to have a 1-3 with different skills. Important to note that often the best back in practice is Seldon. He has some pass protection struggles, but will be a monster paired with Sampson. Imagine how good this RB room would be with a competent deep OL.
Appreciate all that Small has done for us, but it's time Sampson and Wright take over 80% of the snaps at RB. Small seems to be the worst one for missing running lanes and leaving yards on the field just from casual observation.
