What happens on Volnation?

According to some here BP sucks at that anyway.

Well, 2 year show cause wouldn't help. I don't think he neccessarily stinks at recruiting, I wonder about development of the talent though. Something has to be wrong when the class ranking keeps getting better but certain recruits aren't developing. I do think the 3 best players of the Pearl era weren't his recruits though. May throw Chism in there but Watson, Lofton and JuJuan are 3 I refer to. My views really don't have a thing to do with his recruiting or coaching.

at this point I would say yes.

Ok, thanks. Not to press, but what does "at this point" mean? I assume that if something comes up during AA's ruling this summer would be what could change it? I have a feeling that his departure isn't even being discussed as some such as myself have assumed it has been. I just want it to be over either way

No way. Im all for change. I just don't think Pearl is a good coach. He's great for publicity and all that other garbage but his end game coaching, substitution problems, and constant crying make me sick! I know a lot of people that got excited about basketball after 05 but its those and the ones that kept defending Pearl that are now calling for their head. Maybe some is a change of heart or they actual realize how bad of a coach he is now.

Oscar Wilde once said that there are two great tragedies in life. One is not getting what you truly want in life and the other is getting it. good luck

Even with 2 year show cause if that is the result?

something has changed over there in the last 24 hours or so. Not sure yet what it is but seems the support has reversed itself. Haven't confirmed who is causing ripples, but there are ripples..

Perhaps they have finally realized the damage keeping Pearl will do to the program and the hit the university will take?

I know you retracted in a following post, but there's no way he survives a two year.

He didn't really retract as much as he updated. He just said some things have changed since yesterday. Hubbs and Rob Lewis said the same thing on VQ.

I've heard the same thing.

Larry, how many people that make the decisions does it take to offset Big Jim's opinion?

My guess is that some people have been made aware that a national magazine and one of the largest newspapers in the country have folks poking around town trying to dig up more on Pearl and the program to drop at the start of the NCAA Tournament, a la Minnesota and Clem Haskins.

I think you're making an assumption about Mr. Haslam's position on this issue that may not be completely accurate.

I have not heard his position. I've seemed to have heard everything but that, but not his. That was just a generic question about Haslam in general.

a la Minnesota and Clem Haskins.

"The NCAA also slapped Haskins with a seven-year "show-cause" order, meaning that no NCAA member school could hire him without seeking permission of the infractions committee. The penalty, the harshest that can be imposed on a coach, came because the committee found Haskins had lied about making the $3,000 payment, and—more seriously—he'd told several of the players involved to lie to the NCAA. Since most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with an outstanding "show-cause" on his record, Haskins was effectively blackballed from coaching until 2007."

Interesting.

I'm sure it was just one lie for Clem though, he deserved a second chance.

Interesting.

Bruce wept about it on live tv, created Tennessee basketball, is an outgoing guy, and a great marketer. The NCAA will keep that in mind when sentencing him and will go lighter because of it.

Interesting.

That actually would show a bit of leniency in a two eyar show-cause.

Are they on to something?
