I don't know if it's true or not but I've heard, on here, that Bob Huggins would have accepted the Tennessee job when Pearl was hired.

It just makes me wonder what kind of team Tennessee would have if he were here right now?

You wouldn't have guys like Maze, Goins, Williams and Prince on this team.

Whats with all the BP hating on here? He has brought this program into the top 25 year in year out. No we havent made it past the sweet 16 but our mens BB program absolutly sucked before BP got here. He has people talkin bout TN BB, TB arena is always packed, in past years they would close the upper seats in the arena cause we couldnt fill them. Top coaches have not wanted to come here in BB and Mike Hamilton did a great job finding BP so stop the whinning and be happy we have BP!!!

I don't get it either. He has done a great job making Tennessee Men's basketball relevant. I live in the KC area and know how upset that Kansas State fans were that Huggy Bear left them high and dry after just one year. He used them to get back into college basketball so that he could go back home to his alma mater West Virginia. He might have accepted the Tennessee job if it were offered back then, but he also might have walked out the door for West Virginia like he did to K-State.

This is the same group of posters who said first of the basketball season
that this team was final 4 bound no doubt

these folks who wear the orange and white we need to support them win lose or draw

this is big orange country

get off your high horse people and support this coaching staff and the players!

if you don't like this team or coaches

go support another team

as for me and my house we support this coach and team!

Anyone that had any knowledge whatsoever would never guess this team would be in the Final Four.

Also, you do know it's possible to support a team while disagreeing with who is at the helm, don't you?

The bottom line is, he is not. There was no way UT was going to hire him right after the turmoil with Cincinnati. It was just too soon. He was lucky to land at WVU.

He is an incredible coach and I would enjoy him being here, but he is not so there is no reason to wonder "what if?"

I'm sorry if a few people got bent out of shape with me for asking a hypothetical question. I realize it doesn't matter but this is a message board where a lot of "if" and "but" questions are asked. I got bent out of shape too when Tennessee lost to a sub-par USC team by 22.

I don't hate Pearl but this notion that we should accept the same mistakes over and over and sub par performances because it is "better than it was before" is ridiculous.

If Pearl doesn't want the criticism of a big time coach than he shouldn't get paid like one.

I have no problem with Pearl being here if he can get the job done. Part of me asking about Huggins was to see how many people would think things would be better. If the answer is yes than that tells me there is room for improvement.

hahhaha. First off I predicted our struggles in the preseason. I did not expect this team to show improvement because Pearl's players don't seem to improve much over their careers. You sound like the idiots who say if you don't support the President you should leave the country, yet adamantly don't support Obama now that he's in office. I'm all for supporting a guy if I think he's doing a good job but I'm not going to sit there and give blind support when our coach is not doing well.

Pearl has done all he can do. I dont mind keeping him around another year for getting us here, but we will need someone else to get to the next level.

Look at our basketball program. Our fan base consists of some fans who believe the program is fine, and others who believe its not. Some think Pearl is the guy, while others don't. There is too much confusion to the program.
