About your hypothetical, I suppose you want me to say the right would have remained mute because they would never sink to trying to pin the actions of a few on a larger group.

Basically, vitriol is vitriol. Regardless of the source. An erratic and violent nature, rather it be culturally ingrained or due to a susceptibility of influence as a result of a mental insability do not, in my opinion, reflect what was used as a conduit for the extremist thoughts.

Islam, Christianity, Left-Wing, Right-Wing, video games, etc are not the causes of shootings. It's kids who either didn't get the right attention growing up or they got too much of the wrong attention. Making a scape-goat out of any of this is further hampering the continual advancement of the human condition.

Actually, no comparison of this tragic event to the Ft. Hood Massacre. Loughner is obviously a paranoid schizophrenic who will never stand trial but will spend the rest of his life in a mental institution. Major Hasan was/is an Islamic terrorist bent on killing as many infidels as possible. He will eventually be tried and executed.
