I agree. My point was we don't have a team full of hs all stars. Others that do have a team full don't make the NCAA or a deep run always. Yet people seem to think we have talent that should get us to the Sweet 16 no matter what. One poster said if Bruce was here we have Final Four talent. We have talent to make it far with luck and a good draw. But so do 30-40 other teams. We don't have two or three first rounders like a lot of teams.

We have two 5*'s and two 4 *s and one of those 4*'s was Mr. basketball in Wisconsin his junior and senior years and the other 4* leads the team in scoring so cut the crap about no talent.

I didn't say no talent. Why are the anti Martin guys so black and white? We have talent. I think we should go dancing. We don't have Final Four or guaranteed Sweet 16 talent no matter who the coach is. There are 20 other teams with more talent and 15 more with about the same. We should go dancing. The finish will depend on the draw and luck. People acting like we have top 15 or FF talent are over exaggerating the talent level on purpose so if Martin does make it, it won't be good enough unless he makes an Elite 8.

Mmmmmm all the still pro Martin crowd was saying the same thing about the talent before the season started......we only quit having talent once we started struggling.

Once again you anti Martin guys don't have reading comprehension skills I guess. I never said no talent. We don't have top 15 or Final Four talent. We have NCAA talent. We should make it and make a run.

What number value would you give our talent? Top 5 in the nation? Top 10? Top 20? Top 40? I can name twenty 15 teams off my head with more 4 and 5 stars and hs AAs.

I think we have top twenty talent.....the starting five is very talented and experienced.

Right now we are headed to the bubble and that's very disappointing with this team....the future is not bright for us under Martin.

But none of the experts or media thought so. If they did we would have been ranked pre season. I guess you know more than all the people paid to follow basketball.

Starting five is ok. Depth is horrible. We are what we probably will be. A NCAA team.

Please don't try and use the pundits to justify anything. They are wrong just as much as we are.

Ok let's take that approach......the experts had pearl's first team picked in the bottom half of the SEC and no where near the top 25. They also had us a huge underdog when we went on the road and trounced Texas.....how accurate are these so-called experts? I bet most couldn't name our roster.

Actually AP had us #26 and coaches had us #30.
Any decent coaching wouldn't have had us ranked after our first 10 games.

Its called overachieving/ good coaching. The same way after Pearl left the mess for Martin and nobody was returning they picked us 11 of 12. We finished 2nd. Good coaching.

Do you not think its possible to overachieve? You can only underachieve? So Pearl should not get any credit because the pundits were wrong and we should have been a top 25 team?

Its not like like I picked one person or poll. The consensus was we are not a top 25 team. We aren't.

In relation to Martin's first team. I won't repost it all but the numbers support my argument.


I never said they had Final Four talent. But they did have C Lo and Watson.

And were picked nearly last in the SEC and coming off a sub .500 season....facts are Martin is not recruiting well enough for us tobe a good program.

What is a successful season ?

Assume we are talking about this year -
* Get in the NCAA.
* Not getting knocked out in the first round of the SEC tourney.
* If we don't go to the Big Dance, then win the NIT. This one (or two) and done in the second tier tourney is getting old.

Clo fr AA vs Tatum as top returning scorer. Or Clo vs McRae and his 1.8 under Pearl. Watson career NBA pg vs Tra Golden. Patterson and Wingate down low vs Maymon who averaged 2 points the year before.

Pearl got 4 players who had already averaged between 5 and 14 ppg including two established All SEC players. Martin one 8.8 score and no one over 3 besides Tatum.

I think we remember a lot of pearl's players glowingly bc pearl made them winners....no one remember jordan as highly bc Zo didn't do the same for him.
