What is Cuonzo building?

In response to the Illinois rumors Cuonzo says...."We're building something special here,'' Martin said. "I enjoy my job at Tennessee, and I'm looking forward to bigger things next season.'' Just wondering what Volnation thinks Cuonzo might be building?? A house? An amusement park? What do you say?

A love shack...ba-a-a-a-a-y-beeeee.

Reading the comments on here you would have thought Coach Martin had been at Tennessee for 3+ years. Wow.:(

The Memphis team may have beaten UT twice, but the progress and effort Coach Martin got out of his squad far exceeded what Coach Pastner got from his team.

As long as he isnt building a BBQ I'm ok.

CM has a different plan. He'll be inviting VN for a barbecue.

Kidding aside, CM is building a competitive program for the future. He accomplished a lot with a thin roster and got the players to buy in. Next year will be even better.

What is Cuonzo building?

Something Bruce never could, so chill, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Not to rain on peoples parade and I realize that there is a huge difference between MO State and Tennessee but he said the same things here before he left less than a week later...

He's his own man and he won't answer to anyone. He'll do what he thinks is best for him and leave all else behind.

Just my opinion, I'd stay at Tennessee but with him being a B1G guy, if he's offered it's going to be hard for him to say no

Also, he did not deny the rumors. He put nothing to rest with his statement.

I have faith in this man. I really think he can get us to that level through a great work ethic and not necessarily 5* talent, though having Jarnell will certainly help

Candy was behind us in the sec so I don't put them up there. Didn't play Belmont but I'm betting if we played their sched we would be in the tourney. So I put us at around third

You're Dreaming. We are exactly right where bigdaddy has us. You would lose that bet on Belmont's schedule also, cause we would have had twice as many bad loses playing their non conference schedule before Stoke's got here. You can't put us in front of Vandy after going to the NCAA and winning a game with our 1 game win in the NIT.

I get what you're saying but finishing ahead of them in the SEC says something as well.

Who's Stoke and what's he got here?

I think the jury is still out on what Martin is building. The quality of his recruits play will dictate most of what happens here; or certainly a large percentage. We need to see the next couple of years recruits playing before we will know whether this coach is an improvement from what we had before.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you're comparing two different things. IMO, every coach is "building a NC contender." That should be the goal of every coach that steps on a court, UT or elsewhere. Where that differs from what you said in the second part of your comment is, judging the success of what he's building. You can't judge success of the coach just based on what his goals are is my point, which is why it differs from your first sentence.

Reminds me of the Tom Waits song, “What’s He Building in There?”
Cuonzo hasn't built himself a solid enough résumé yet to get a serious offer from Illinois or any other big-time suitor. If his intention is to build something special at UT, he seems to think he’s found a way to make something spectacular out of subpar material, judging by the majority of his recruits. I don’t think alchemy is Cuonzo’s strong suit. You can’t build a space shuttle from balsa wood and Elmer’s glue. I may be wrong, but it looks like he’s just using this alleged interest from IL as leverage with the UT brass for a stronger contract or an extension.

I won't be surprised if UK doesn't even make it to the Final 4. Over-rated.

Please. How is a team with 7 future NBA players overrated? Give me a break. Anything can happen in the tourney, so its entirely possible that they can lose, but calling that team overrated is either sour grapes, ignorant, or both.

Did he issue a statement about the "rumor" at Missouri state like he just did today???
