What is the worst call you have ever seen??

I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals. I am almost 100% convinced that some outside source (David Stern or the mob) convinced the referees to ensure a Lakers win. I even know die-hard idiot Laker fans who suspect that game was rigged.

Other stuff from the NBA... The '06 Finals, the refs let D-Wade get away with murder, whereas a foul was called without hesitation the second he ever got touched. I don't think there was any fixing here, though, just that most of the officials in the association at that time did not have good relationships with Mark Cuban or most of the Mavericks, whereas Wade has always been one of the better guys at working the refs.

98 NBA Finals, when Jordan commited a blatant charge on Byron Russell to get off the game-winning shot to win the series. That series should have absolutely gone 7.

Worst basketball one, though, and IMO the worst call of all-time was the 1972 Olympics gold medal basketball game between USSR and USA. I could explain it, but here's video:

YouTube - 1972 USA vs. USSR Part 6 (Final) Olympic basketball Final

The referee and the timekeeper both deliberately blew calls multiple times in favor of the Russians, eventually resulting in a USSR victory.

The call last week by the ump that spoiled the pitcher from the Detroit Tigers perfect game! The runner was out and this would have been the 3rd perfect game this year, a record of course.

The 1985 Game 6 of the World Series when my St.Louis Cardinals were robbed of the World Series!

Never going to buy it. Denkinger made a bad call. The Cardinals then allowed hits to a .243 and .223 hitters, walked a man and allowed a passed ball on their very own.

If you want to blame the ump, you can't roll over and quit after the bad call, which is what the Cardinals did.

When Galarraga got hosed on the perfect game, he went back to the mound and got one more out for the win. He didn't whine about it and quit.

Well the Gaffney "catch" still bothers me. Probably because our season tix are right above that corner of the end zone and I had to watch it up close and personal...

That was pretty bad... But at least the ump didn't run from his mistake. It is refreshing to hear someone own up to it. Still sucks for Galarraga.

I understand that point, but of course Galarraga didn't lose the World Series though.

No, he missed out on something five times more rare than a ws title. Not to mention being on the tail end of three perfectos in one month. Two in a month might never be duplicated.

It isnt NCAA but the 2009 NFL playoffs between titans and the Ravens. it was actually a no call. with less than a minute and titans winning joe flacco didn't snap the ball until two clear seconds after the play clock ended.it was third down and he got a ten yard first down completion. We lost

The 06 UF game also had a rediculous roughing the passer call that negated a Jonathan Wade pick 6 that would have almost certainly sealed the win for us.

that call still makes me sick when i think about it. i doubt the gators could have came back from what would have been a 24-7 deficit at that point.

please. People like to ignore the fact that baker swung and missed wade first. Wade gave him a little love tap and he answered with a necksnapping stiff arm. To say that was worse than 2000 when the refs directly handed them the game is a joke.

doesn't change the fact that the refs goofed on the clock management after that. i'm glad that we won that game, but i'll openly admit that we benefitted from the bad officiating.

anyone got a video of the Gaffney "catch", i remember a little bit of it but i was young when it happend, i still no it wasnt a catch, lol

i honestly don't think i've seen a replay of "the catch" since that saturday in knoxville. i was there to see it live, but have never found a clip of it anywhere after that. i'd say your best bet is to contact someone who still has the game taped on vhs.

For me, it was the Gafney no-catch and the pass interference in the 2006 Florida game. I was in the stinking Florida section in the nosebleeds and had to listen to their garbage the rest of the game. I still have nightmares about that.

Does anyone remember the 2007 basketball game against Auburn when Bradshaw and an Auburn player both had their hands on the ball and the Auburn player tried to call timeout and the ref gave Auburn the timeout...that was pretty terrible.

In my opinion, college basketball refs are the WORST in all of sports. College football was by far the worst in 2009, but consistently, college basketball refs are the worst.
