What is ultimately at stake tomorrow

Psalms 37 29 says the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever. If you believe the sun is going to kill us all one day then doesn't that mean that life as we know has an expiration date, be it a "judgement day" or otherwise.

I guess if you believe the sun is going to kill everything one day, that is a belief in science. Shouldn't a belief in faith say that God can maintain the sun indefinitely?
I think you need to study the Bible more.

I agree with you on this, but, forgive me for assuming but aren't you a Christian? I guess it's jmo, but the sun dying and killing the human race and everything in our solar system kind of points to there being no God, does it not?

Why?

There are also verses that speaking the heavens and the earth being swept away and all things being created anew. And Revelation speaks of the New Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven. So yes; believers will live „in the land forever“. I Just don’t think it is the present „land“ as we know it

Fair enough

With what exactly? Until SpaceX gets Starship operational, the best we have is SLS which can barely get 60 tons to the moon.
Any interception of a meteor or asteroid in time to change its course will require something capable of teaching hundreds of times further and getting there with very high velocity

For all intents and purposes, what is the difference between billions of years and infinity?
😂 billions of years? You’re incredibly optimistic.

One super volcano and human life is extinct on this planet. There’s a vast number of other extinction events that can happen.

Plenty. Infinity is „infinitely“ longer than billions.
When you really sit and think about it; infinity is the most frightening and disturbing concept known to mankind.
It boggles the imagination and is so far outside of human understanding as to be incomprehensible .
And if you believe that you will exist for a period of time that is in fact infinity; it should really make one contemplate how and where one spends that infinity.
When I think about such questions, I am forced to the conclusion that an infinite existence is horror beyond sanity unless it is spent in the company of an infinite God who can provide infinite opportunities for the human spirit to experience.

If Republicans win the Senate tomorrow, they should call the dimocrat bluff and introduce a vote to indeed eliminate the Fillibuster. Would be absolutely HILARIOUS to watch the Dems have to do an embarrassing and instantaneous 180 on one of their most often repeated demands

Inter

Well we men gotta claim Mars.

Women can haveYou Venus.

Elon can have Uranus.

You would like that

I think humanity could survive a supervolcano, at least the ones we are awarebof in recent time (geologically speaking).
Humankind appears to have survived Taupo in New Zealand 27,000 years ago and even Yellowstone 650,000 years ago doesn’t seemed to have caused the extinction of earth’s primates at the time.
Of course, just because humans would survive wouldn’t necessarily mean that civilization survives.

There is a belief in some Christian circles that God will destroy the earth with fire the next time.

Any Christian who claims to fully understand exactly what is described in the books of Daniel and Revelation is fooling themselves as much as they are you. The interpretations are all over the map.
Most Christians do at least agree though that the Earth as we know it will either be destroyed and replaced or else fundamentally remade into a place free of decay and corruption. The exact timing and sequence of the events that will get us to that state is something that God has not chosen to share with us. But it does seem to involve a time of increasing evil, the appearance of an Antichrist, and a final battle between the forces of God and the forces controlled by Satan. I share a belief that those events happen in the near future and involve the Nation of Israel. But that is only my interpretation (shared by many evangelicals). I am not arrogant or foolish enough to claim that my interpretation is the correct one

we have at least 1000 years for Lord’s Kingdom..not sure how ole Mother Earth is gonna make it after the Trib.

in 1000 Years; no one will remember Trump or Harris, Democrat or Republican, LBGQT rights, tariffs, government funded healthcare, or cultural Hot button issues.
For the future of humanity; what really matters is that Elon is in effect on the ballot. Due to his polarizing positions in the past year; the outcome of tomorrow determines his future and the future of his company SpaceX. What we decide tomorrow is; do we remain trapped on earth, or does humanity colonize the stars? If Trump wins, there will be cities on Mars within 20 years. If Harris wins; we probably don’t go to Mars for a century; just to spitefully punish Musk.
This is the historical pivot point equivalent to Ferdinand and Isabella deciding whether or not to allow Columbus to take three ships and sail Westward into the unknown.
Tomorrow we vote on the future of humanity. It may not matter to you; but it matters a whole heck of a lot to the future.

You know, Mars, despite being smaller than earth, is 3x as likely to get hit by meteors. The idea that Mars is a back up for earth for a cataclysmic asteroid

I got nuthin but confidence in Elon and his mastery of the tech.

SpacEx launch went off at 9:29 this evening. I watched out the east windows. Clear so I could see the booster separation. I saw the engines fire and could see the booster headed back to the Cape. About 7.5 minutes later, I was looking and I saw the boosters firing due east of my house. Cool. This is always the best part. About 20 seconds or so after that, the horizon lit up behind the trees as the engines fired again for the landing. 15 to 20 seconds later... BOOM BOOM.... the sonic booms that announced the return of another SpacEx success.

It is a symbol of private enterprise and entrepreneurship that Kommie-la will stifle in this country.

We had a nice run I guess. At least we will have unfettered abortions.

I was in Daytona for the summer race some years ago and remember seeing the shuttle take off. Pretty cool. I had that high def footage on my Motorola razor

This has been one of my arguments against an intelligent designer. The universe is billions of light years huge, with innumerable galaxies, stars, and stuff we haven’t discovered yet…and we live in this petty little rock in an obscure corner of the universe in a plain, run of the mill galaxy around a common star the rock orbits that can support some life on some of its surface some of the time while we are doomed to failure by a star that will eventually expand and engulf said Little Rock and everything on it wiping out all evidence of ever existing.

This is an “intelligent” design? And it gets even less believable, if you can imagine, when the designer has a God and religion and saviors and prophets and divine books added into the mix of the explanation.

Then you have the theory of everything just spontaneously coming from nothing.
