What I've Learned From Oregon Boards

how do you explain their mediocrity for so long before saban? i've always wondered this.
Texas wasn't bad, but they weren't really special for a while. LSU's in great shape right now as far as talent goes, and I feel like a good coach come step in and do very well. I hate Miles, but I certainly hope they don't hire someone competent. I wouldn't mind if he drags them down a bit more, first.

I'd hate to see what someone like Muschamp would do... because those dudes are freaking loaded with talent.
I get the feeling that Muschamp is very overrated, and he can just take over Texas in a few years where it will be even easier.

They weren't talented. They really didn't start recruiting well until Saban showed up. Very much like SOS did down in Gainesville, Saban created a national juggernaut in LSU.

The difference is, Spurrier helped Florida get some of the talent Miami and Florida State took. LSU should have done well before that, too, unless demographics happened to change a lot.

droski, LSU's turn around doesn't just coincide with the BCS and the uptick in national interest in college football, it's turn around is a symptom of it. More energy was put into becoming competitive and getting a bigger piece of that pie. LSU had all the natural advantages for success, so when they started pursuing that course, they became successful.

It's why USF is destined to become a major team in the Big East, too.

1. The SEC sucks, is overrated and overhyped, and is the product of the ESPN media train. The PAC-10 is easily as good, if not better than the SEC.

2. Recruiting classes and don't matter, despite the fact that history and statistical analysis tell us different. Oregon is more talented than every team in the SEC not named Alabama.

3. Oregons defense is better than Alabama's because they give up less yards per play. Furthermore, giving up 500 yards in consecutive weeks(to ASU and Stanford none the less) is a product of the offense running no huddle, and scoring so quickly.

4. Cam Newton is an overrated bum who should be playing TE or DE. The fact that he leads the nation in passing efficiency is irrelevant, he's only being hyped due to the SEC sucking so bad.

5. Cliff Harris is as good as Patrick Peterson.

With that said, I'd like to point out that not all Oregon fans are this extreme. Some bring up valid points and provide solid arguments. Others go a little too far in their pursuit to push for PAC-10 superiority. For the most part, I enjoy posting on PAC-10 boards. It gives me an idea of opposing thought, and how they feel about their own conference as well as rival conferences.

I'd love to here some opinions on the above points.

Frankly, I know it would surprise you, but It just doesn't come up that much. But looking at number three, I can see you're group is well along in harvesting your money crop this season.

Speaking of Masoli, crapping thunder and lightning with Oregon's tricked up pony, I mean ducks, his performance so far in the SEC, hasn't impressed. Even Jacksonville State finds that comical.

i'd say considering masoli had 3 weeks of practice before playing that he's looked pretty good.

If I was going to rank every team in the SEC and Pac10 together, here is what it would look like.

1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Arizona
4. Auburn
5. Arkansas
6. LSU
7. South Carolina
8. Stanford
9. Florida
10. USC
11. Oregon State
12. Tennessee
13. Kentucky
14. Washington
15. UCLA
16. Mississippi State
17. Georgia
18. Ole Miss
19. Cal
20. Arizona State
21. Vandy
22. Washington State

So SEC 1, 4,5,6,7,9,12,13,16,17,18,21 Pac 10 2,3,8,10,11,14,15,19,20,22

I would take the SEC as the better conference by a large margin

wait so you have georgia ranked higher than cal despite the fact that georgia lost to Colorado and cal beat Colorado by 5 tds?

You actually beat them by 6 and a half TDS. But every game stands on its own. I actually think the teams are a whole lot alike and are headed for the same disaster this season.

No i but I did watch nevada-cal. Not every game is going to play out with the best team dominating. But I think Arizona is going to go 11-1 an Cal is going 4-8.

you think cal is going to win two more games with WSU on the schedule and UCLA, ASU, and UW at home (all teams tedford has never lost to at home)? btw: tedford has never lost to stanford or oregon at home either.

arizona gets dominated for 4 quarters at home and barely beats a 4-8 team (according to BOP1) due to a 50 yard bomb (only td of the game) and cal misses 2 field goals, yet they are a top-10 team and will win 11 games.

Who cares? Im pretty sure cal was better than they are now and cal washington and UCLA were also worse than they are now about every yr hes been there. Mike riley had never lost to oregon at home either and they put 65 and a school record in yds on him in 08.

Same team every week man. Every team plays exactly the same every single week in your stupid world.

So it's impossible that maybe Cal lost to nevada because they played like crap and because of the short week, the gimmic offense, and having their two best players (including an all american middle linebacker) injured? but hey. you watched the game.
