What makes Jones better than DD?

Derek dooley was way out of his league in the sec. That's the reason he couldn't keep his assisant coaches. Plus he just couldn't coach I think vol nation figured that out in the first season BJ got the job he wanted and he's goin to win here just wait and see. GO VOLS!

I was thinking something along the lines of embracing our proud history, but this post pretty much nails it. I could never be anything but a Vol and I'll bet you at his core that DD will always be a Georgia Bulldog.

All I know is I like how this AD at least thought outside the box and hired a coach with a winning record. A risk I know over a failed NFL coach with no college head coaching experience and a spoiled aristocrat lawyer with a penchant interior decorating but one I'm willing to take.

I think someone nailed it when they said he couldn't coach. He lost more big games due to his decisions than just personell. His coaching lost us
1. Uf in 2010 by letting that fake punt happen
2. Lsu in 2010 by being unorganized in the goalline (something they NEVER fixed)
3. 2011 Uga by his never adjusting the play calling (go straight wildcat or something. 6 pts? Really?
4. 2011 Usc by never adjusting the play calling ( go straight wildcat or something. 3 pts? Really?
5. 2011 Uk by not having team ready and not adjusting play calling. ( How can we not ever score at least 20 points against Uk) Even their best teams gave up that much. That team was crappy.
6. 2012 Uf game. Bad Defensive coaching all around. Players out of position most of the time.
7. 2012 Uga. We left 10 points on the field due to boneheadedness. A pattern,
8. 2012 Mizzou. I'm not even going to list all the reasons that were obvious.
9. 2012 Vandy. Nice job pulling Bray at a crucial point in the game. Then it went downhill.

So for all our losses I feel we lost an average of 3 more games a year than we had to. Games I feel Rhicht, Spurrier, or any half decent coach would have figured out how to win.

Not only that, he just can't let DD go and stay gone. Got to drag him back again and again. It's like some Vols fans are ticks or fleas that can't live without sucking Dooley blood.

For whatever reason, Dooley alienated himself and the team from former players. He ran the program his way and at the end he had no one in his corner.

Jones knows this will be a tough road, because of the conference and the schedule UT plays every year. What a way to build up some equity by using the "brick by brick" and embracing the former players and coaches to be a part of the program.

There will be struggles this year, but UT will beat a team it isn't supposed to. If UT can get through some growing pains against Oregon and come out of the Oregon and UF games healthy then watch out UGA or USC.

Never considered Dooley all that well spoken. Nasal voice and always running off at the mouth TOO much. Well spoken people know when to shut up and Dooley didn't until he got his ass best. Then you couldn't find the POS

1.) He's a proven winner (3 Big East conference titles). Dooley was not!

2.) He has united the former players and fan base. Dooley was very divisive.

3.) He makes absolutely no excuses for our situation. Dooley CONSTANTLY made excuses and whined about crap like "year zero" and "growing bamboo."

4.) He currently has the #1 recruiting class in the country. Dooley NEVER had that.

5.) He's a much better motivator. He seems to know how to get the most out of players and more importantly, the players seem to love the guy and want to run through a brick wall for him. Dooley was a motivator of shower technique.
