What makes Jones better than DD?

Nothing so far makes him better until he proves he can win some SEC games. We all like what we've seen so far--but the proof will be in the play of the team. I'd say he's got a pretty good chance of being a better than Dooley because Dooley didn't win at all, so the bar is pretty low.

Everything. But this most glaring his inability to even want to connect to the players or former players. No one wanted to be around him, play for him, and he wanted to be placed on a throne. Bottom line he was not even close to being a people person, felt entitled.

Dooley's best and only winning season as a HC was 8-4 which, to be fair, was impressive for LA Tech at the time. However, when you consider that LA Tech tends to get a lot of 2nd hand SEC transfers they should really win 8 or so a year anyway (as they have since Dooley left).

Butch Jones on the other hand has four conference titles in six years. No it wasn't the SEC but he wasn't fielding SEC caliber players either so it was on an even playing field. He consistently recruited at the top of his conferences too. Now he is recruiting SEC caliber players to go up against SEC opponents. Logic says the pattern of success should continue.

that everything matters from former players, to the media, to recruiting, etc. . .not only does he gets "it", he is bring "it" and one day this league will be working hard just to keep up with the Joneses.

Dooley had a losing record playing in the minor leagues. Jones has won four league titles in six years so that makes him much better than Dooley could ever be.

In asking that, I am fired up!!

We have had two D.D's as head coaches. Given that fact, I definitely see CBJ as obviously much better than D. Dooley and I hope he is as good as Doug Dickey.:td:

Go Vols, pound the stone and run to victory!

Dooley was not a moron. He made a lot of money and now working for the Dallas. Sad the names that some feel compelled to use.

I don't think he was a moron either....The guy was just odd and had a different way of speaking and displaying mannerisms. The LSU and Missouri debacle didn't help at all.
He just wasn't that good of a coach...some things that went against him were our of his control.

CBJ is a former band member, so we can surmise with some level of confidence that he knows how to count. Unlike Dooley, where nothing more needs to be said.

I'm in wait and see mode, but I'll give him that he earned his gig, while the previous disaster was handed the keys for no good reason.
