What makes Jones better than DD?

In asking that, I am fired up!!

Wins... nothing more, nothing less.

I am on record as saying a 5 or 6 win season from Jones would be no less offensive than the same from Dooley.

I like Jones' style. It sounds like he's coached the team hard. It sounds like he's got some skill... but none, ABSOLUTELY NONE, of that matters if he lays an egg when the lights come on.

I'm going to have to go contrarian on this thread. Butch cannot compete with Dools on several levels.

I don't want to be a noodge, but at this point, CBJ's coaching record at the Univ of Tennessee is 0-0. Yes, he won at Cincinnati & Central MI. That is to his credit. He's put together a stellar recruiting class here in the form of verbal commits. That is to his credit. But he's still 0-0 as our coach. Until we watch the 2013 Vols execute on O & D against the likes of Oregon, UF, UGA, etc., we will not know how much good it did to replace DD with CBJ.

Another precautionary note regarding the inevitable bravado that comes in August when our Vols are still undefeated, untied, and unscored upon. Consider the following posts on VN:
- "If you don't like SEC titles and a program on top, go ahead and get off the Vol train now. Because that's what's coming. Dooley is building a solid foundation here."
- "Just listening to these guys [Cheney & Sunseri] talk have me convinced this might be the year [2012] we turn it all around."
- "You can tell there is just such a different level of excitement and optimism around this preseason than there has been in previous years."
- "We get our wins this year guys..I promise. I know many of you are weary of getting your hopes crushed, it's going to get done and you will be able to walk with your heads high once more. It was an extremely tuff job Dooley had to take on here, it took some time but we finally have an SEC caliber roster. 2012-2022 the decade of dominance part 2"

All of the above are quotes from VN between April and Aug 2012..

Dooley was not a moron. He made a lot of money and now working for the Dallas. Sad the names that some feel compelled to use.

His friend game him a job. Simple as that. The good ole boy network doesn't mean he is a good coach. It's sad you are blind to reality.

You're right that he wasn't a moron. A moron wouldn't have been able to effectively scam a major university's athletic department out of $11M all while reducing it's once proud football program to rubble.

Never considered Dooley all that well spoken. Nasal voice and always running off at the mouth TOO much. Well spoken people know when to shut up and Dooley didn't until he got his ass best. Then you couldn't find the POS

I never understood the well spoken part either. Dooley sounded like a dumb hick to me, he sounded more at home on Hee Haw.

To be clear, I don't believe Dooley is a dumb hick, but his speech never inspired me at all.
