What other message boards are saying (Iowa Edition)

Well I don't want to be accused of plagiarism, especially from a university. I just googled it and Iowa did this a few years ago (very cool... starts around the 1:30 mark). Though I think it might look better if they had multiple, smaller hands waving instead of just one big one, to correlate with all the fans waving.

Alabama's band did this formation once to salute their fans. Their flag girls even provided the little web membrane between the fingers.

Honest Question: how did their defense do against teams with legit speed? Because a ton of Big Ten teams lack that.

As I said, I don't want to be accused of plagiarism. And I certainly don't want to be accused of copying something from Alabama! 😟
Iowa should do it in their yellow band uniforms, make it a 3-fingered hand, while playing The Simpsons theme song.

I understand why Tennessee fans are optimistic about this game when looking at Iowa's offense, but I think this game will be alot closer than either fambases imagine.

Tennessee has allowed an average of 27.5 points to conference opponents this year while on the other hand failing to score more than 20 points in 5 games. If Iowa's defense is as good as advertised (which is a valid discussion to have), it's very possible they keep us under this 20 point threshold.

Also, its likely that Iowa's suffocating defense forces us to quick 3 outs, wearing down our defense. As we have witnessed, this is the winning formula against Huepel's offense. So could see this going down to the wire in a 20-17 type game.
I watched the Iowa at Wisconsin game last night. Their punter is the best I’ve seen at pinning the opponent deep in their own territory. Their linebackers are fast and tough. Their offense slows things way down by pounding the rock and using the clock. Our offense can plan on way fewer possessions. That said, their offense is awful, their qb is absolute crap, their coach had a horrible game plan. Their punter is a serious weapon though.

I travel to Iowa often on business and you can’t ask for a nicer group of people. They’re my favorite big 10 team by far.

I actually think this is a really interesting match-up.

I'm in the camp this one will be closer than we want. Our offense has been suspect all year, and I don't care how bad their offense is, 3rd and medium-to-long has almost been a frustratingly guaranteed conversion against our defense this year.

I think we win but points and time of possession will be at a premium for us. I expect like a 13-3 or 20-10 type win. Our defense better be prepared to play for like 40 minutes.

They have lost 3 time this season. Penn State beat them 31-0 and Michigan bested them 26-0. They also dropped a close one to Minnesota 12-10. Michigan and PSU would definitely be the fastest teams they have faced.

I heard tonight that two of Michigan's TDs against Iowa came on drives of under 10 yards, if I remember correctly. Very, very short fields. One because of a long Michigan punt return that set up the Wolverines inside the Iowa 10--and I can't remember the other---a fumble maybe. So the Iowa defense in fact played quite well, as others have noted. So we'll see. It's certainly hard to know what we might get out of our offense, which looks good at times but often struggles for long stretches.

The Iowa wave is kinda cool. Maybe UT band could maybe flip off Bammer.

What’s their site called?
@RDU VOL#14 I replied to the wrong notification on my app (fat finger). The link is below. Their forum has a very sad setup. The Citrus Bowl thread is on page #2. Sorry for the confusion.

-Hey Tennessee players, we think you should opt out and prepare for your bright NFL futures. Thanks in advance.

-Tennessee’s defense is a lot better than ours, gonna be a long day in Orlando.

-I’m watching from the house, I will NOT attend this **** show. Tennessee will beat us so bad.

-We’re about live up to the internet dubbing us Punt University.

-This one will be fun for about 5 minutes.

-Tennessee will crush us.

-Hey, if we win this game, it would validate the season. We won’t though.

-Tennessee message boards seem to think that they win this one pretty easily. They’re correct.

-Whoopee! The last time we played Tennessee the speed difference really showed up. At least we could have gotten a school from California so we can get used to them for next year. Does the Braille Institute of Los Angeles have a football team so our offense has a chance. Rather had an Acc team myself.

-I can’t believe we’re selling bowl game shirts. I’m not buying one that will rep 4 losses.

-We’ll hang around for a few, but the speed difference will show up and it’s gonna get ugly.

-Oh boy, I’m excited for this one. Not!

-Tennessee will beat us by 30 and then coach will defend it by talking about effort.

-Do we have a chance? Sure. Will we win? Hell no.

-At least I’ll get to go to Disney.

-We’ll be wanting to smoke a pack of cigs and drink an entire bottle of whiskey at half.
Part of my is LMFAO and part of me feels bad for them...some of these posts are hilarious and pathetic at the same time

It seems like their fans think the only way they have any chance at all is if most of our players sit out the game.

Lot of NegaHawkeyes!

I give them much better odds than their fans. Our offense has struggled and they have an elite D. I just think that their putrid offense gives us the advantage. Ours has certainly struggled as well, but if we make it to 20, we probably win.
I think it comes down to which version of Milton shows up. If it's the Vandy version, we good, if it's the version from our 4 losses, we may be in trouble.

I watched the window wave video and really don't want to beat them by 50 now, maybe just 40.

It's a great tradition and really shows how classy their fanbase is. If we aren't playing them I'd rather see them win than not.

I don't believe I have ever heard a fanbase this down in the dumps about a 10 win team.

I think their record is a reflection of their schedule. They've played two ranked teams all year and they were shutout both times. That being said, I still think that they will give us a game and possibly win if we don't show up. This isn't a "gimme" by any means.

LOVE my work mates from Iowa. Really great people. Lots of Iowa State fans among them.

I think Iowans refer to Iowa as something like Illinois West. A lot of their students are from the Chicago area... and sort of a cultural mismatch for the typical, rural Iowan.
