You can get banged up against any opponent, be it FCS or FBS #133. Absolutely no value in playing this team ranked this low.
Besides the fact that its a guaranteed win.... thats better than any loss. Clemson showed that with all of their 4 team playoff runs and two titles while playing nobody all season.

-Back on the road for part 2 of the 3 payday games. Tennessee is 2-0 and near a top 10 team at the time, not sure what the line is, wouldn’t be surprised to see us lose by 70+ as they won’t show the mercy Saban always showed at ‘Bama by stopping his scoring at 48.

-Tennessee is a lock to be in the 12-team playoff. And since they scored 69 against in-state Chattanooga last week, I doubt they will show much mercy. They want to climb the polls and fast.

-Hopefully, Coach gets to rotate everyone in the game in this slaughter.

-I am completely baffled that I bought 16 tickets to this game and am driving 6 hours each way to go watch us get hammered.

-Tennessee held NC State to 1.4 yards per carry, can you imagine what they’re going to do to our run game?

-Tennessee’s starters will exit after the 1st quarter, we are the absolute worst team in FCS.

-St. Francis pretty much dominated us yesterday, we don’t have a prayer going forward. What’s this trip to Knoxville paying for? A new recruiter.

-Dear God, please let Tennessee have mercy on us.

-Did y’all know that their qb has 525 yards passing through two games? He’ll have 1000 when they’re done with this elementary school secondary.

-This season is a lost cause already, maybe we can make a couple of good plays in Knoxville.
“-I am completely baffled that I bought 16 tickets to this game and am driving 6 hours each way to go watch us get hammered”

🤣 It’s sure to be an experience they’ll never forget!

Why in the hell did we schedule this? If you gotta play these sorts of teams, at least keep it in the area, preferably in the state of Tennessee. Let the Big Ten schedule these MAC schools
You bring up an interesting point. The Big10 has a patsy filled schedule as it is, though it might improve with the expansion. We have had a murderer's row for years and it has become even more difficult to win the conference. A few patsies thrown in allows the team to work out the bugs before the gauntlet begins.

Ohio State has done that for years. If they’d played NC ST rather than Akron they might have lost last week

tOSU played Arkon and paid them $600K, we're paying Kent $1.35M.

Kent State was a decent team when this was scheduled. They played in a bowl a few years ago. I do not have a clue how they have fallen this far this fast.
Transfer Portal, their actual good QB graduated and new coach. Their 2 best WR ended up at Penn State and UNC last year (although the UNC kid couldn't play). My daughter goes there. Games were fun in 2022. Not so much anymore

True but those schools desperately reley on these games. That money pays their athletic budgets for the year. The players, coaches, administrations, and fans know and understand it. All of those schools confrences doesn't hold it against them wither in determining final rankings. Its neccessary for teh big boys too. It gives our 2nd & 3rd string players valuable live experience that they normally would not have until needed for an injury replacement. Its valuable experience fro the lower level players and a chance to show what they can do against upper tier talent and hopefully thay can move up via the transfer portal.
Yeah it’s not like either side is going away empty handed. TN gets an easy win that allows our backups backups a chance to play and learn. Kent State gets a hefty check to help pay for those boys schollies, plus they get the chance to try and show off on a national stage.

And as NIU showed us Saturday, sometimes crazy things happen!

Kent state isn’t NIU and Tennessee isn’t Notre Dame. This game is going to be a massacre

playing #133 does nothing but hurt your sos, absolutely no value

The 12 teams that compete in the College Football Playoff are determined by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. The selection committee chooses the 12 teams for the playoff based on strength of schedule, head-to-head results against common opponents, championships won and other factors

Tennessee apparently recognized that the Golden Flashes haven’t been doing much rising lately. They haven’t had a winning season since 2012 when they miraculously won 11 games. Scientists probably are still doing lab tests to determine how that happened.

Since then, Kent State has lost eight or more games seven times. It outdid itself last season by going 1-11. As dreadful as Golden Flashes football has been, that was the first time they had lost 11 games since 1998.

Did you notice I just made a Tennessee-Kent State connection? The Vols were a perfect 13-0 in winning the 1998 national championship. That same season, the Golden Flashes achieved a perverse form of perfection by losing all 11 games.

When did we schedule them?
I don’t know exactly but the 2025 schedule is already set and 2026 OOC is too so you can bet at least a couple of years.

Kent State won their division in 2021 and played for the MAC championship and won their first ever bowl game then.

But their coach moved on to bigger things in 2022 and their best players transferred out too
