What other message boards are saying (Kentucky pre game edition)

Actually… all bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon
Yah, they grew up in two very different ways.

Bourbon originates from Bourbon, France, where little skinny men with spindly arms and way too much body hair chase little fat french women around the farm fields. They occasionally get distracted by sheep, which gives the French women (also too much body hair) a breather. So they make bourbon out of pig piss and puddle water in those spare moments..

Whiskey, especially Tennessee Whiskey, has its roots in Scotland, which was occupied by the Angles, a mean germanic bunch. And the Saxons, another 12th-Century biker gang. And then THOSE badasses were invaded and occupied by the Vikings of Denmark and Norway. Mean is as mean does, and so they made Whiskey out of salt water from the North Sea, narwhal oil, and pure testosterone.

Take your choice. Me, I'm all for Tennessee Whiskey.

Go Vols!

Cignetti would be my first call. He would say no but you’ve got to try.

Golesh would be successful at a major program.
Alex is a relative unknown so far as a head coach.

I mean, we know a lot about him as an assistant coach, sure: he is an Xs and Os wonk, a real student of the art of football. That's one of the things that makes him a very successful coordinator. We know he's very intelligent, and personable.

But we don't know how he is at motivating large groups. Which is a different problem than, say, motivating a stable of 3 or 4 QBs in the QB room. Large group dynamics and leadership are much more intuitive and instinctual. That sometimes runs at cross-current to a person who really enjoys taking a thing apart and analyzing all the details.

In short, it's just a very different skill set. He hasn't passed that test yet.

We also don't know how well he will handle all the head coaching distractions. The fund raising and representational duties for the University; the frequent meetings with the AD and his staff, the compliance requirements, the facilities oversight (to the extent Danny needs Josh's input), and on and on. There are a million details the Head Coach has to handle that the coordinators never do. So this will all be new to Alex. And then the rock star fame, the constant demands for attention from others. Gotta see if he is able too maintain team focus through all these different kinds of distractions.

And then there's the hiring and firing of all the coaching staff, and just the leadership weight that sits on your shoulder, knowing you are directly responsible for the well-being of a dozen or more coaches and their families. That's the often-unspoken but never-ending burden of leadership, which just gets heavier and heavier as time goes on.

Anyway, as I said, we don't know yet if Alex will be an excellent head coach. He absolutely was an outstanding coordinator, so we can hope.

Go Vols!

-The puke orange is going to show no mercy Saturday night. I can see our defensive line getting about 17 penalties for not getting back to the LOS in time.

-Look guys, just a few more weeks until Stoops is gone. Deal with these last few losses.

-Tennessee by 21 plus Saturday night, Stoops lost this team weeks ago.

-Heupel will not let off the gas, I don’t blame him. Stoops is an ass clown.

-Tennessee has struggled on offense, so I had a little bit of hope, but then I remembered they’re playing our atrocious defense.

-We are nowhere near the level we were when we played Georgia. We’ve regressed. Vols by a lot Saturday night.

-I want to think this game can be competitive but it won’t. The life of us Kentucky fans.

-The perfect recipe for putting the dagger in Stoops career (night game) (those black uniforms) (liquored up Vols fans) (sold out Neyland) Yeah we’re gonna die.

-Tennessee is going to step on our throats and never let us up.

-If you’re a betting man, bet Tennessee big. At least you can make some money in our horrible times.

-I’m just curious as to who we’re going to hire next. I hope it’s someone good. We need a home run hire for sure.

-Auburn was a 2-5 team and took our lunch money. Tennessee is going to take our lunch money, throw us in the dumpster, and then take our women on a date.

-We don’t stand a chance. NOT ONE!
That last one😆😆😆. Love seeing my cousins in misery!🤣

Not 100% sure Cignetti would say no...he's making 4.5 mill / yr at IU.
His buyout is 6 mill after Nov 30th.

That's a huge jump from the roughly 700K he was making at JMU.
Kentucky is shelling out 9 mill a year for Stoops...double what IU is paying.

Here's the kicker in all of this - and why I don't think UK does anything this year - Stoops is owed 44 MILL on any buyout this year !!!
That's a big pill to swallow for any AD right now, even one that is revenue sharing in the SEC.

Kaintucky’s current crush is Tulane’s coach. He’s better off in N’Awlins.

When you run Calipari out of town, it doesn’t make sense to keep Stoops.

Meh, football is just something to pass the time for them until basketball season starts.

I highly doubt they outright fire Stoops after the season. I could easily see him accepting a 50% buyout or something though.

He was in a good spot at KY-pretty much guaranteed the job for as long as he wanted it, then he had to mess it up with his dalliance with A&M who didn't want him in the end anyway. You kind of have to laugh.

Sadly these eerily remind me of the South Carolina pregame posts in 2022.

We have this magical way of making bad teams come to life. We better show up and play.

Excellent post just one minor correction, Scottish whisky isn’t spelled with an e. Same for the best whisky made in Tennessee, George Dickel.

Man, I was agreeing with you all along that response, right up until the words George Dickel.

Now, I'm from Tullahoma, and have fond thoughts for old George. But no Tennessee whiskey can match Jack.

Go Vols!

Funny how they can't wait for Stoops to be fired and yet he is the best coach they have ever had at Kentucky, and he's been very loyal when he could've taken other jobs...They will regret firing him when they hire another no name assistant coach because nobody will want to take on that dumpster fire known as Kentucky football.
