What other message boards are saying (Playoff Edition) (Ohio State)

The man himself. Cool, calm, collected, and Christian. Love it.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahaha

Thats hilarious. They have a loaded roster just like UGA, Bama, and UT. Thats true. What in the WORLD would make them think they are the "Alabama" of anywhere? It sure isn't Championships. Or even bowlgames...Misery DESTROYED them less than a year ago in a bowl. Maybe incest and poor personal and dental hygiene???

To see them calling Tennessee soft is hilarious. I hope they think we are soft. Considering we played 5 or 6 games on national TV this season, and won ALL of them except AT Jawja...there's no excuse for calling us soft. I watched a panel of the "Locked on" reporters without the VOLS guy...6 reporters from 6 OTHER SEC schools. Over the weekend. They unanimously picked UT as the best defense in the SEC this year. 6 out of 6. No arguing or discussion. Yet these clowns think we are "soft". Please, please let their players go into this game thinking we are soft and gonna be a pushover.

Look no further than the 7-8 starting QB's on our schedule that didn't finish the game for whatever reason.

According to this article, OSU is 23rd, Vols are 49th.

ESPN has Vols at 28th, and OSU at 20th.

It's a mixed bag.
That's likely because of Penn St and Indiana. We don't know how good either is because they didn't play anybody. For me the jury is still out on Oregon too. I will say OSU is the most battle tested Big10 school, but again idk how good Indiana, Penn St, & Oregon really are.

They played a murderers row of rush defenses?
Akron - #106 - 183.3 yds/game
W Michigan - #110 - 186.3 yds/game
Marshall -#100 - 169 yds/game
Michigan St - #34 - 125 yds/game
Iowa - #26 - 117.5 yds/game
Oregon -#35 - 126.1 yds/game
Purdue -# 119- 200 yds/game
Nebraska - #12 - 105.8 yds/game
Penn State - #9 - 103.6 yds/game
Northwestern- #38 - 129.9 yds/game

If anything, TN is built like a B1G team. Strong rushing and strong defense.
Thanks for doing that. I was headed in that direction but didn't have time.

OSU players don't think we are soft, they know better. Their fans think we are, players reflect the Coaches attitude and Day is taking this lackadaisical or smug.

If you use weather as an excuse then you have a problem

ESPN childness rant about the benchwarmers shows how stupid this is. GA game.
This team will be prepared for this weather and if they are not it is on the coaching staff.
ESPN started this conversation.

The committee locked into this game and wasn't going to change it. Trying To prove a point.
OSU should have been over PSU and we should be over PSU in the rankings. The committee was not going to let that happen.

Franklin talked about snow and all this is, is a mental ploy. ESPN bought into it and it was a mental ploy. Coaching knows better and the B10 fixed it that way.

Lets play the game. Just remember you sweat the same and if you are not sweating you ain't trying.

What needs to be a concern is an ACC crew calling a cold weather game.

I liked the one about blitzing and him hoping were over aggressive. I thought that was far more insightful than most of the comments.
Thanks for the laugh this morning! It's clear all these OSU fans do not know ball lolol I'd say most of them didn't watch a game outside of the Big 10 this year. I don't know where they're getting this confidence and how they're talking like Michigan was a bigger challenge than Tennessee. But I hope our players and coaching staff see this and put it on the bulletin. Man. Now I want to crush these fools even more lol

Welcome. Remember, fan is short for fanatic. We have a lot of that here. I think it is going to be a close game either way. And there are 37 verses to Rocky Top. We plan on singing all of them. ;)

GO VOLS!

Yep. I’m a big college football fan. Coming to a Vols game is on my shortlist of CFB experiences. OSU has a very large fan base — hopefully you don’t let our crazy 10% influence how you view the majority of fans who are pretty reasonable and good people.

"-In 1996, the University of TN wore illegal cleats in a soaking wet Peach Bowl. Karma is coming."

If your going to make a BS accusation you should at least get the bowl game right. I was at that Citrus bowl when we shut down their heisman winning RB.
Me too! Great game. Clearly that person isn’t much of an OSU fan if they couldn’t get the bowl game correct. Peach Bowl….wth? Uh, that one has been played in a dome for thirty years now.

#22 Reggie Sanders with the play of the game. Reggie blew up the fullback in the hole on 4th down near the goal line. It completely stuffed the run. Bill Duff cleaned up George and got the glory. Nuked OSUs chances. Cooper 2.0 looms in Columbus.

To reiterate Ohios tallest mountain is 20% the size of Nebraska and Kansas' tallest. I'm not sure if you're trolling me but this is Campbell Hill, the tallest mountain in Oh*o. There is a reason actual mountainfolk in TN EKY VA WV NC NEGA laugh at JD Vance and Ohio people saying they're appalachians

The elevation at the highest point of my property is approximately 1,100 feet above sea-level.

Depending upon where you want to drop the pin, the elevation of Knoxville, Tennessee is very similar.

And the highest elevatioin in the state of Ohio is Campbell Hill at 1,549 feet.

Where I live in Ohio is not flat. I grew up in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Again, the area that I live in looks very similar to East Tennessee without the mountains in distance. Kansas and Nebraska are at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Yes the Rocky Mountains dwarft the Appalachian Mountains so it is to be expected that the elevation is higher. I was not comparing Ohio to Kansas or Nebraska. I was stating that the entire state of Ohio is not flat as you stated.

This is pretty smart
-Michigan beat us by almost never blitzing and keeping 2 safeties back and baiting us into run into their D line that we couldn't handle. Will Tennessee deploy a similar strategy? I don't know. But if they do blitz us and leave our WR trio in one and ones, I think we should like that. Our OL is better pass blocking than run blocking, and our backs can pick up blitzes with the best of them. I would welcome an over aggressive strategy by Tennessee, but I don't think we'll get it. They are going to play the pass like Michigan and hope OSU still struggles to run into light boxes.

This is not so smart
Our offensive line won't be manhandled like they were against Michigan either so I expect a little bit more success running the ball and some better protection which should give Howard more time to find the talented receivers.
It's difficult to assess and compare Tennessee like this. We have a "different" type running game, that is predicated on different keys. Michigan is good at overpowering and creating seams to run in sprinkled with a bad passing game to try and keep the D honest.

Tennessee OTOH spreads to the boundaries and wants to be balanced passing vs running. The scheme is designed to put LBs and DBs in jeopardy with too much space to cover one way or another on run v pass. This leaves 6 on 6 type or 7 on 7 in the run box which creates breakaway lanes for the runners between the tackles. If defenders crowd the box, the option to throw deep or mid is opened. Text on top of the receivers and their outnumbered in the box leading to 200yards for #6.

If UT or UM tried each other's scheme, they probably fail miserably. OSU has the athletes to defend our scheme as well as any. But, what I like in this game is that they have not played our scheme. Their D has been elite vs traditional offenses. They scheme for a traditional offense and they are roasted. They'll certainly adopt the NCSU/OU/UF/UGA 3-3-5 stacked approach that has made like difficult for us. But changes lead to a lot of thinking and a lot of defenders out of position leading to big busted plays.

Vols 27 OSU 20

We lost to a 6-6 Arkansas team, but the cops weren't called. What could have been had we won that game.
At least we lost to them earlier in the year. This was the last regular season game for OSU and they looked worse than we did against Arkansas.

Not sure but it is going to matter a lot. If OSU gets away with UGA level holding then it could be a really long day. If it goes straight up then UT will cause them a lot of problems on the LOS.

OTOH, their D could make things tough on UT's OL also. I know this isn't really CJH's thing... but I would like to see Nico out of the pocket with a run/pass option and simple reads. He's got the arm to throw deep back side which OSU probably isn't accustomed to seeing very often in the Big 10.

A lot of it does come down to Nico. If he hits some shots over the top early then life gets better... but that's been the story of the whole season.
Nico needs to hit some deep shots. He has certainly improved as the season has progressed. If he continues it will be awesome for us.

But, now CJH has to take the chains off him if we have a chance at the Title. Nico's running skills has to get mixed in equally w every other facet of our offense. His wheels are the X factor that can make this year's offense lethal. I fully understand protecting him this season. But now, we need Vince Young 2.0. Nico has that!

Early in the season Nico was throwing a beautiful pass. I assume because there was not much of a pass rush in his face. As the pressure was ratcheted up with better competition he started Milton-ing the deep ball. The last two games you could tell he was almost taking a deep breath and focusing before he let a deep ball fly.

On the crossing and sideline routes you can see his arm talent. He can really spin the ball as the say.

Fans gonna be fans. The one I liked most was "Tennessee got the worst possible draw in the playoffs. We'll destroy these soft ass fools". I don't know if bulletin board material really gets anyone hyped up, but if anyone on here can get this stuff to a player or someone on the coaching staff, put it on the board. Print out the entirety of the comments, but highlight that one for sure. Not that I think our Vols will need it, but it can't hurt.

Kansas's tallest "mountain" is a flat area of plains. The plains states gradually increase in elevation right up to the Rockies. It's how Denver sits at 5000 feet despite being on a flat plain.

Man, he does have an NFL arm for the flats and deep outs. Yeah, if he will just relax, that deep ball will be lethal. Glad we have him.
