and 'Justified'I lived in Columbia six years and I didn't even know they had a campus. It's all mixed in with the rest of the crappy town. They play basketball in something in the middle of downtown that looks like the coliseum, and their stupid football stadium is on the state fairgrounds. They fancy themselves our rivals...I don't think we would ever consider them that. They have no tradition and very little history of any note.
And crossing routes too. USCjr. killed us with them last year, and UF hit a few too. The young LBs have to grow up fast.Banks has to have them play more physical at the LOS. He has to take some risks that someone might hit a long shot when the Vols bring pressure. Too often UT blitzes only to have the opposing QB hit a short route with a DB giving 5-10 yds of cushion off the LOS.
And once in a while... you have to blitz and jump a short route. You have to make them pay for those check read slants and hitches.
A lot of people are quick to throw the players or position coach under the bus. This is a problem with how Banks chooses to defend short throws.
Many radio shows are made into podcasts. When Ford started mass producing cars, the Weimar Republic was going crazy and headed into a murderous dictatorship. Cars are what’s wrong with the world! When people started calling talk radio “podcasts”, I lost all hope in humanity. I really think that’s when things really started taking a turn for a worse in our country.
I do believe that is what took out Hendon's knee. Tore an ACL running in a straight line down the LOS. Stepped in a sand divot and went down untouched. The SEC, in the name of safety, should make them play all road games until the provide a safe playing surface. Does a coach have the authority to refuse to take his team to play on an unsafe field? There is no excuse for any SEC team to have shoddy fields to play on. Not with the money they get from the SEC.I'm convinced that they did bog down the field last year prior to playing us. It doesn't excuse getting throttled by a lesser team, but their field has always been garbage and led to a gruesome injury to Hendo.

So APSU is a rival? We wear orange/white for our rivals each and every year. Alt unis have zero to do with it.When you wear an alternate uniform to create emotion and atmosphere that makes them a rival. Their record with us since 2005 is very competitive. I also remember Butch finally getting a last minute field goal to win the game and Neyland went wild. South Carolina is not that good, Tennessee has fallen and can’t get up. What have the Gamecoks ever won? SEC East? I do not remember a trophy for that.
So you don't like him and more than likely the reason you don't like him is that "they" said he's a bad player or whatever?
Again, what specifically has he done and do you think it is worse than some of the other mistakes that have been made? I HATE his tackle attempt. But there were two or 3 other players who didn't do their jobs that made that awful attempt necessary.
UT has talent on D. They have talent in the secondary. They're fairly well coached up when it comes to technique. They need to be put in a position to succeed. IMO, the best place you can have Hadden is in the face of an opposing WR. Hadden has very good athleticism. Honestly I cannot understand why UT with guys like Slaughter, Turnage, and Hadden at CB lets opponents get free releases off the LOS.
You think we have the DB's to press a guy like Legette? Banks will be backing off trying to keep everything in front of our guys. He'll be hoping that our front 7 can pressure and tackle well enough to keep a game like last year from happening again. What Rattler has done with a line like SCjr bunch is really impressive. Kid can make plays with his legs as well as his arm. It's a case of pick your poison. Honestly, I don't trust our team to block and tackle well enough and consistently enough. SCjr's strength(Rattler/Legette) aligns with our defensive weaknesses (secondary and tackling). Bottom line, neither SCjr or UT are very good football teams. Comes down to one thing in my mind....they have Rattler/Legette and we don't. One potential variable we might be able to take advantage of is the home crowd, but if UT can't get off to a fast start, our crowd can be taken out of a game pretty easily. I don't have a good feeling about this one.And this week, playing a team with a questionable OL, we should absolutely be playing press coverage so the QB doesn't have the option to drop the ball off quickly...
