Though what you said is correct, Sale Creek and Soddy are VERY redneck, speaking from a Chattanooga city limits only view, it’s a surprisingly very progressive city, not very hillbilly at all

EDIT: basically calling any city “Hillbilly hell” is kind of silly considering hillbillies don’t typically exist inside city limits
Yeh that's why I was guessing they never go very far north of the dam, because it's very mixed country and suburban .

I've lived in every suburb of the Nooga and even in the really nice parts, you're mixed in, unless you hole up in the downtown area . Tiftonia , East Brainerd , Signal Mountain/Falling Water,Hixson, Soddy , Red Bank , Birchwood , etc. They all have nice neighborhoods with really country folks nearby.

Meh, it always hurts to lose. I'm giving all these fellas a pass for the saltwater and gnashing of teeth.

Hopefully they'll bounce back, win their conference, and maybe contend for the FCS crown.

And when we have double digit victories and get to the FBS playoffs, I hope they've recovered some balance and can cheer for their big brother, too.

Go Vols!

p.s. Direct replies to any of these fellas who may be visiting us:

-Damnit, is Tennessee really this good yes or are we really this bad? no

-The team was trying, we were just very outmatched at every position on the field. Of course you were, it's FBS vs FCS.

-Over 700 yards given up on defense is pathetic. today is not a reflection of you guys at your level. Rebalance and drive on.

-We got yard stomped. Ok, true, but you have the whole season ahead of you. Today doesn't affect your team goals in any way.

-Too bad there is not a score rule like the run rule in softball, then we could’ve went home earlier. No doubt Tennessee is really good but we look like we had not practiced. We cannot tackle, we cannot block, embarrassing. A mercy rule is not a bad idea, but probably never happen. In any case, don't sell your team short; you were simply playing a higher division. In your division, I'm hoping you guys rock out.

-On the bright side, we scored as much as #14 Clemson did against Georgia. You certainly did!

-Tennessee may very well be a playoff team, they’re going to drill NC State next weekend. I think you're right.

-Heupel is trash no - BUSH LEAGUE BS! no -Tennessee ran the score up for the polls ding ding, to the extent it was intentional and not just a result of our first string being in the entire first half, that's the only reason anyone ran anything up.

-I know the paycheck is nice and all but we don't need to be playing semi-pro teams anymore. Thanks, 'preciate the compliment.

-Embarrassing showing against a middle of the pack SEC team -and- this loss will sting even more when Tennessee finishes 8-4 or 7-5. Heh, tell me you two can't see the future without telling me you can't see the future.

Sitting in traffic, Can’t wait to get out of this Hillbilly Hell. Others have covered this, but I'm guessing you're headed to the Outer Banks for vacation, or...? I honestly can't remember ever before seeing one Tennessean play the hillbilly hick card on another Tennessean.

The “running up the score” comments never get old. Sweetheart, if Heupel had been running up the score, it would’ve been something like 90-0.
They wouldn't want to know what would've happened with all the starters through the 4th qtr . Once their starters on defense got tired it would've been brutal.

Was talking about the Hillbilly hell part. Lol. Hillbilly calling Hillbillies Hillbilly is funny to me.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Knox is generally inhabited by more cosmopolitan hillbillies than can be said of Chattanooga.

At least when I lived in Knox we at least had the decency to put our moonshine in a glass to aerate it for a moment before drinking instead of chugging it out of the bottle like some kind of heathen from Chattanooga.

Damn, just be happy with the payday and go win your conference. Pretty sad for an FBS school's fans to be bitter after getting blown out by a top 15 P4 team. Go enjoy your holiday weekend and chill.

Sale Creek and Soddy are becoming refuges for good people moving outward from progressive Chattanooga which has been invaded by Californians and New Englanders. I live between the 2 and have seen my house triple in value, though I know only idiots think it's worth that much.

Absolutely. I love my Mocs, but mostly basketball which has such a rich history. Gotta love all in folks, but to agree to play little brother and keep the money in house is a tribute to Danny White.

I am beginning to understand why weed is illegal here. It’s not that people don’t want it to be legal. We just don’t want the Californians to think it’s a good place to live.

Wonder how many of this fan base will travel to Atlanta next week for their game against Georgia State?

Absolutely! I once heard it said the Californians are nice but not kind. If they see you on the side of the road with a flat tire, they say bummer and wish you well. New Yorkers are kind but not nice. They see you on the side of the road and tell you how to fix the problem and take over fixing the problem and seeing you on your way.

That may be true about Californians, that they're "nice but not kind." I only lived there 6 months, and haven't known tons of them, so can't say for sure.

And btw, the New Yorkers like to contrast themselves from Southerners in exactly the same terms.

But I absolutely know the bit about New Yorkers isn't true. Generally speaking, they are neither nice nor kind. I mean, I like many of the New Yorkers I've known, but they are rarely kind, usually only to family, grudgingly, and almost never nice. They just like to say that. Makes them feel better.

Go Vols!
