What schools will come after Josh Heupel?

Lanning is going to bolt Oregon either this year for Auburn or next for Oklahoma, Bama or Florida.

Once that happens, Phil Knight will pay Heupel NFL size money to go West.

Not sure who comes after him first, but if he shows up with the Aflac duck and starts coloring his hair.... be worried

I would expect Auburn to go after him. I really think they should look at where we got him from though. The current coach at UCF is doing pretty well.

Can Heupel's offense work in the NFL with the hashmarks being considerably closer to midfield?

Isn't a substantial part of our offense (particularly run game) predicated on stretching the far side of the field?

I'm not a statistical guru, or stratagem guru for that matter.

I don't know if Heupel's passing offense could work in the NFL. I think the NFL having the hash marks closer together midfield would seriously effect the run game. Heupel would still be looking to create the numbers mismatch on run plays, but all NFL teams have elite closing speed and they'd have less ground to cover than college teams.

Heupel's system forces man to man where we have crazy strenth (speed), creating a ton of mismatches. That wont work in the NFL, however, because everyone is talented. Note it did not work so well against GA, who has row upon row of five stars. I think when we play GA in the NC, we will do better but his style exposes weaknesses for the opposing defenses that are more common in college. I think he stays right here for the next decade and makes crazy money.

honestly, i do not know the answer to this, so i will ask, is Tennessee the only fanbase who worries like this and tries to think of every reason why their coach is looking for another job. i mean, there are some weak minded people on here who, probably in truth, just started watching Tennessee this year, who spend way to much of their day worried about how soon their coach is leaving.

Please stop worrying about something that you shouldn't be worrying about. That's adding undue stress to your life and your life expectancy. GBO!

Unless he has a soft spot for Oklahoma he seems like the kind of guy that sees the value of where he is. Of course if he has a couple of bad stretches I am sure everyone will want to run him off…

If we make it to the playoff and lose, you better believe there will be some "CJH can't win the big game" posts. 😄

First PLEASE LET US COLLECTIVELY SAY...pay Heupel well...his current pay is way way too low AND ANNOUNCE IT SOON!!

Having said that, which COLLEGE TEAMS will come after him (or already is)?

Stop worrying. He isn’t going anywhere.

Not saying some GM wouldn’t try it, but I personally don’t think the CJH offense would translate to the NFL very well.

It wouldn’t. Spurriers offense failed in the NFL. I live Heupel but his offense is tailored to college. And that’s perfectly fine.
