What schools will come after Josh Heupel?

Danny White will make sure he's paid what it takes to keep CJH. They have a long history together. Nobody has a better fan base and facilities than UT and recruiting won't be a problem now that the program is on the rise. Coaching in the NFL much more difficult and stressful. Saban, Spurrier and Urban couldn't hack it. CJH stays a VOL for a LONG TIME.

I agree with everything you say, but people are quick to forget Barry Switzer, Pete Carroll, Jimmy Johnson, and to an extent maybe Kingsbury. Granted, some of those guys are from a different era, but it has been done. I do think that with Saban, Spurrier, and Meyer it was their arrogance that led them to the NFL, I don't see that in Heupel. I hope he's here for a long time.

I dont think you have o worry about it. Once we get into the playoffs, irrespective of what happens there, they will redo his contract I guarantee you.

I dont think he will want to leave yet anyway because the hardest part is done already and he has Milton next year and Nico coming in. Besides coach pay, it would have to be a place with crazy NIL like we have to get some top recruits before the team "deserves" them.

He has a place here that can build a dynasty in the heart of the SEC. A rich storied program with tons of resources and absolutely rabidly fanatical fans,

Do you honestly think with their history together that Danny White is going to let Heupel even THINK about leaving if it is a matter of money?

Where I am much more concerned is assistants
You bring up a good point. Heupel and this team has a lot more they can still achieve this season. It's not a matter of IF he will get a raise, but how much. I am sure both Danny and Huepel and everyone else is on the same page. It doesn't just have to do with Heupel getting a raise either I am sure. How much of a raise will his assistants want and need. Does Heupel want those answers for his own negotiation. But yeah, I can't imagine Heupel leaving, or us becoming a reason for him leaving.

I think he sees Tennessee a place to build his on Dynasty right up there with the likes of Neyland and Majors and Fulmer surpassing Fulmer and Majors. The administration and his athletic director have bought in 100% . They will pay to keep the whole staff together whatever it takes. Because the cash cow is rolling again.

Really it comes down to his personal goals in life and football. Right now he has one of the rarest blessings any coach or leader can experience. There is alignment and unquestionable support above and around him. That has freed him to develop the program his own way. There are no guarantees he will get that anywhere else. I hope he’s wise enough to see that.

He can make all the money he ever imagined wanting at UT. No one has a more engaged or supportive fan base. Anything UT can’t do can be supplemented by endorsements or someone like Spyre

He will have options. The choice comes down to what he values and his ability to win big at UT compared to other places

You say petty as if it’s a bad thing. I don’t think it is.

Drinkiwitz ran his mouth off and Huepel reminded him that he need to put up or shut up. Nothing wrong with that in the least.

I said during the game thread that it’s not our job to stop playing to spare the feelings of the losers, it’s their job to stop us. They can’t/won’t do that, then too bad.

But their coach certainly needs to stop running his mouth too
My bad man. I misread what you were trying to say. I think we actually agree with each other just saying it in different ways.

Is Lane Kiffin the only head coach to ever leave UT? They seem to either get fired or retire. Not worried.
My guess is that Kevin has regretted leaving Tennessee 1000 times over, I still understand his decision, but it was very ill advised, and I think he will admit that today

Realistically - Oklahoma is probably the only school that could lure him away. But if he continues to succeed here and we pay the man his due, I wouldn’t be too worried.

I would be more worried if he gets tired of recruiting high schoolers and decides to make the jump to the NFL as an OC.

22 months ago, football fand viewed Heupel as the best UT can get. Now they are viewing him as one of the best there is.
